Artie Lange Announces to leave the Howard Stern Show
Artie Lange said he needs to “dry out” for six months.. After visiting a doctor and a argument with Howard today, he announced that he will take a leave from “show business” in January. He said he is not leaving the show, he is leaving show business. He feels that he is dying, and has completely lost control. He is possibly on the verge of diabetes, which his father had.
“Howard, I feel like I’m going nuts“, said Artie. He hasn’t confronted the many “demons” in his life. Howard emotionally gave him his blessing, but with caution “The pain in your life will never change whether you are working or not“. He recommended repeatedly to go see a shrink seriously before deciding.
“I am burnt out from the road. The longer i stay here.. the longer they are going to throw these gigs at me…”

By 10:40, Robin kept saying she wanted to leave the show for today and that she has the shakes at the moment. Talk already going around the studio with who would fill the chair. Howard said unless someone came around, he would just do the show with who was left.

The entire show is scripted, there is a lot of ‘production’ that goes into it. This argument got a little ‘off script’ and that is why Howard got a little flustered at the live commercial time. Howard dont like to be hit below the belt and that is where Artie was aiming because Howards constant ragging must get on his nerves.
I dont blame Artie, the last 4 years have almost been a constant attack on his weight, his heroin, his dating habits…Its like the other freaks that work there all shutup since the spotlight was on Artie.
The dynamic of the show is basically people getting together and ragging on each other all day, with a ’star’ or two thrown in, some discussion of the product they are selling, etc. 95% of the calls that come in are Sternshow Interns so there is very little ‘outside’ influence to disrupt Howards control of the show. Artie shook that control a little with some off the cuff comments and Howie broke down a bit. Thats all.
Look, the show is over in two years or so anyway…there will be a straggler show afterwards where a couple of them get together and try to continue (Bababooey, Sal/Richard and maybe someone else) but that will basically be it. Unless Howie makes a deal with regular radio to ‘bring it back fromt he brink’ as he likes to beat it down so bad on his show…
I hope that Artie comes out with his own show…it would be funny…I think he can pull it off on Radio. GO ARTIE!!!!

This is a ploy. This morning you heard Artie make a passing mention to Howard about doing the show later in the morning, and with the 24 hour repeat, early morning commuters would listen to yesterday’s show. Possible that Artie and Howard would want to move the show to a 9 to noon show, or 10 to 1PM making the schedule a little better for all of them. They have gotten lazy with the extra vacation and Friday’s off, this is the next step

Though the arguement was between Artie and Teddy, Howard has been pushing Artie since the heroin abuse came to light. The constant abuse that Artie has taken from Howard and Robin on a DAILY basis sent him in a downward spiral where they focus only on his eating, weight and drug use. He has made it known by past blow outs with Howard (I’m not your bro) and other staff members that they are constantly going too far! The show is degenerating to the point of sub-par guests and strippers riding the sybian and retarded political views more than the quality show that it once was.
Artie was one saving grace of the show with his witty one-liners and rude comments. I’ll be the first to admit, though I love Artie, that his best work has been on the Stern show and his movie and comedy career is….well, weak - But it is obvious that this was a long time coming.
Howard plays the deer in the headlights with Robin chiming in the same sentiments in the background (they are like mocking birds).
I may be cancelling my Howard TV soon, which sucks since I just got it. If they do in fact lose Artie they will lose a lot more than they think.

If Artie leaves the show it will be a sad sad day. I enjoy the wit that come from that “cuddly muffin” BUT it may be the best for Artie. He needs to take some time off to get his life together.
