Resolving the Artie / Sal & Richard Fight
Its almost impossible to recap this shit going on. The morning started out with the continuing standoff between Artie and the guys.
(The following part I need to catch on the replay)
Apparently later in the last hour of the show (it went to 11:45am) everything erupted in Artie tossing a CD at Sal. Later Artie got completely bummed out, disappointed at himself, lit up a cigarette. Howard laid down “the fist” and declared a moratorium about the whole fiasco. Howard told everyone to drop it. Sal came in and apologized in his retarded way. Artie apologized. Howard said he took the blame for not seeing the signs that things were actually getting out of hand (which lends into the fact that no one could figure out where the jokes started and ended).
Artie did say that if things could not be resolved, he would leave the show.

First of all, Sal is an asshole!! Sal talks all of this shit, he makes fun of everyone…ie;Gary. He fucks with Gary constantly, did so for years. So when people rib on him he has the right to be insulting? HELL NO!!! If he wants to give it, as he does to everyone then he should be able to take it. This started with on air schtick. Artie always cracks on Sal and Richard because it makes for funny radio. Just like sal makes fun of gary. It’s all fun for the air. Those two need to be held to the same standard. When gary gets yelled at by Howard do you think gary wants sal messing with him after that? Or when Ronnie gets yelled at by Howard, do you think after he gets yelled at for 20 minutes he wants Sal and Richard messing with him in the halls? Of course not so if they want to give it then they should be able to take it. PERIOD. So sal goes off yesterday saying some hurtful shit. So Artie does it back. Then today sal comes in with this phony ass apology, oh i’m sorry and all that. He talks shit then he tries to cover it up. So of course Artie’s going to get pissed, because it’s insulting! I thought they were both out of line yesterday but today I’m siding with Artie. Sal is a Phony he is not a honest at all. It’s insulting to say that he didn’t mean any of those things. That’s what set artie off All of the Artie haters on here need to be Honest and see that artie wasn’t wrong for Lashing out at Sal. It’s insulting Bottom Line

This goes further back than just recently. You gotta remember how many times Artie fucked with those guys saying how bad and gay they are. How many times did Artie flip flop with Richard on how his comedy was during times and then yesterday he gave a whole new evaluation of it and saying he never even saw the performance that he previously critiqued. Richard was very open on how much that meant to him and Artie never gave him a straight answer (even when he said he was telling the truth).
In fairness, all parties have been fucked with, criticized, prodded, etc… and they are all guilty of doing the same. Artie gets a bit of criticism possibly because he is the one who has more experience, makes more money and maybe he should take the higher road especially with these guys who are obviously trying to learn from him to get better at comedy.

Again it boils down to on air schtick. Most of the stuff you hear on the radio is alot different then the stuff off the air. ……Excluding today obviously. Artie has fucked with them, sometimes overboard. granted. But again he’s never fucked witht hem to the point where that sal did. Sal went wayyyy overboard, and again the things sal’s done to Gary are pretty bad, you don’t see gary crying about it. Calling him a shitty producer? Are you kidding me? He’s produced the show for over 20 years he’s never gone in there saying the things that sal said to Artie. Even if Artie flipped flopped or not, Artie’s done alot of good for those guys and you all know it. He got richard the part on Rescue me it was as an extra but it was a part none the less. He’s done numerous things for sal, so even if he messes witht hem they shouldn’t tell him all this mean shit when Artie as a man has been very good to those 2 nut licking, taint sniffing, no showering assholes! Artie isn’t a saint by any means he can be a jerk off no doubt about it but they’re wrong here.

Threatening to beat up a co-worker is different. Assaulting a co-worker is different. If I throw something at a co-worker - no matter WHAT he said - I am at fault. And my employer is liable for damages as well as potential legal action - everyone is entitled, by law, to a safe work environment.

Jorge - Really? Actually you’d BOTH be fired. Because in corporate America EVERYBODY has a boss - even the CEO (they’re called stockholders). And the potential for a lawsuit against Sirius for perpetuating a hostile work environment (especially in light of the merger) is something Sirius really doesn’t want.
But this would only be the case if Howard told Artie to assault Sal. But he didn’t - so it’s not an issue.

@Jorge - The reason Sal and Richard have sand in their vaginas is not because Artie fucked with them, its because I believe they hole-heartedly really do look up to him for his comedic experience and when he continually degraded them and their work they took it personally.

You know this isn’t corporate America because if Howard says hey it’s no big deal then Sirius nor the Stockholders would get involved. Again then Sal would have been fired for threatening a guest which is an even bigger law suit than that of an employee. (THE SIM) Secondly if it’s entertaining radio which is the bottom line then a lawsuit won’t even be an issue. Regarding your comment about a “regular office job”. People in show business tend to think that the checks they cash don’t come from corporations. Corporations have rules and legal guidelines they have to follow. Artie himself said that he doesn’t belong in the halls of a corporation.
I’m not saying I think Sal and Richard get a pass - but when it comes to workplace violence (and that’s what it is) Artie put himself out on a limb (for whatever reason) and legally the company is liable. Laughs or not.

Jorge - Legally, a “guest” of the Stern Show does not have the same standing as an employee of Sirius. It would not be a bigger lawsuit. In fact, I bet the guests of the HS show sign waivers releasing Sirius and the HS Show from any liabililty from anything that happens during or as a result of their appearance.
Secondly - please cite the “entertaining radio” defense and where it was successfully used in a New York court.
Thirdly - It’s difficult for a manager-level person (Gary) to sue a subordinate (Sal) for operating in an environment such as the HSS. Additionally, 24 years of work environment history proves that VERBAL abuse is a condition that one accepts willfully and voluntarily assumes when one take a position with the show.
Physical violence, on the other hand. Is different.

Im finally getting to hear the last part of the show.

Sal and Richard have to get some thicker skin and talk to Artie off the show and find out when he is joking and when he is not.

It wouldnt be the same. When Jackie was there it was a completely different show, but with that said it was a completely different decade as well. The show was great with Jackie, then Artie came in, the show changed and was great, Sal and Richard came in and the show has been great with them all.
The show has always changed but Stern made sure its always quality.
Artie’s chair is proven to be replaceable. Artie himself is not. Richard and Sal are replaceable but they have provided some great entertainment. Would you rather have Stuttering John back? Not me.
And at the glorified listener comment, everyone besides Howard, Robin, Fred and Gary are glorified listeners.
