The Warm-ups
So now we have our seats, Pete Dominick gets done with his set shortly after. Next up: Joe Anthony, a Brooklyn-based comedian. / I enjoyed his set, found him pretty funny. He had a good joke about being at the beach with his kids and having a hard-on from watching girls in bikinis. LOL. Like I mentioned previously it turned out that Joe was the dude that we were standing next to before the show who was giving me a little attitude.
After Joe, Michael Bocchetti came up. He is an upcoming comic whose nervously pacing routine landed him a spot on the TV show Last Comic Standing. He had a short set but I found him funny too, you can tell he was putting his all into it and yet struggling with dealing with an obnoxious Stern audience who will heckle even the headliners like Artie.
Last of the openers was Joe Matarese. He recently was a guest on the Stern show and a very good friend of Artie. He probably had the best performance next to Artie. A little slow of a start but he had good presence and was very relaxed on stage. He had an awesome Rocky joke that had my brother and I laughing.
The Big Man Cometh
The lights go out on the stage and a screen in the back of the stage lights up with a montage of Artie Lange clips. Everything from his TV appearances on David Lettermen, Jimmy Kimmel, ESPN, Mad TV (seasons 1 and 2), Entourage, Rescue Me to movies that he appeared in like Lost and Found, Old School, Elf, Dirty Work, and of course his movie Beer League. It was a pretty good mix with a AC/DC song backing it up (if I remember correctly). Then the video turns out and leads into his standard intro music, which I have no idea why I don

The real story about the Pougkeepsie Show…….I must be 1 of those Obnoxious Stern Fans because I have been listening to Howard for 20 years and didn’t really know Artie until he came to the show….. and Artie is the first to say that he is at this point because of the show. I was at the show and backstage before and after the show so I have a very good idea about what went on. Artie wasn’t visibly drinking and probably wasn’t at all. He had to drive after the show and left for Boston early the next morning. He had Vegas, Pougkeepsie, and Boston in 3 days. I think he was tired. He also had his Mother there. She was backstage after the show. Comedy show venues are not the Taj Mahal. That wasn’t vegas but it is a comedians bread and butter. The venue was packed and those that were there enjoyed themselves. The backstage was very subdue. I don’t know what you were expecting but this wasn’t a rock concert. It was just a place to hang before and after the show. I know exactly where you were sitting. I was sitting a few rows behind you and recognized you. There was a group behind you (I don’t know if they were together) that was enjoying the show, laughing and having a good time. When you spend $50 per tix you pay to enjoy yourself (even Artie says that). They didn’t seem to be obnoxious to me just people enjoying the show. If you had a problem with people behind you, you should have said something to them….By the way, 2 girls in that group eventually left with Artie after the show….Thats the dirt from the show….I’m waiting till next week for an update on that. I don’t usually post on blogs but man you seem pretty uptight and you have a lot of negative things to say so I had to set the record straight. I’m glad you met your Idol and got a picture but lighten up man.

I forgot….There was Jack there. There was a bottle in a dressing room that remained unopened. I don’t know if it was ever drunk. Backstage people were drinking the Jack that was given to Artie by the fan during the show but that was after Artie left when the show was over. Beer was the primary alcohol that night. And NO visible drugs anywhere. No even Subutex…..Just to set the record straight.

Uptight? Hey, go fuck yourself. Alright now that I said that. I’m not really that uptight, there was no group behind me, it was just 2 guys. I just think its an asshole move to be talking on your phone during the show all loud.. and then pissing on the floor in the backstage area. Other than that I dont care too much people making comments outloud. According to the carpet pisser, the whisky backstage was tapped before the end of Artie’s set i was assuming that was the bottle back in the room.
Artie aint my hero, you say you saw me and one look at me and him and you can tell im a complete 180 from him. Im just a Stern show fan and big boy is on it.
Thanks for writing and giving a bit more details. I didnt mean the fuck you part.

Ok Time to set the record straight. Although your account of me urinating is hysterical there are some corrections that need to be made. Maybe in my intoxication and slurring you misunderstood me. What I think I said was (not sure but) I pissed “behind” the dressing rooms, not “inside”. Since you were downstairs and saw the dressing rooms, they were open and packed with people, even during arties set. but behind them was a backdoor that led outside to where everyone was smoking and taking leaks if the bathrooms were full. Although peeing in the dresing room is a funny story, I don’t think High Pitch or Joe matarese and all those other people in there would have liked that. As for the cell phone, yes in my drunkeness I did answer it. But being that I was at the show, drunk and having a good time, I answered and said where i was, sorry bro. As for being loud, ya I’m sure I was….. but behind me was another group of LOUD ITALIANS GUYS from NY yelling and spilling beer all over the place and 2 chicks screaming and yelling “dropping loads” and “the Iron sheik” etc. People were drunk and having a good time. If I recall correctly there was an open 6 or so seats in front of you. If we were that bad you could have moved up a row if we were bothering you. I thought we were at an Artie Lange stand up show not an opera. apologies for the cell phone though, that was a drunk jerk off move but what are you gonna do …. And BTW I doubt Joe Anthony was giving you attitude, just busting balls, he was doing it to everyone. O and The video was great man

O the bottle of JD, cant remember, all the beer was tapped though

Hehe, you guys need to lighten up. I was just recalling how the night went for me. Regardless of the facts, I ain’t Bill O’Reilly okay, this ain’t the no spin zone. This site is about as much messing around as it is facts…
Glad you had a good time at the show, maybe im just jealous I wasn’t drinking and be loud with ya.
Yea Joe Anthony was busting balls.. it was funny, i was laughing after the show when he was asking all the “ALs” to get out.
November 23rd, 2007 at 4:36 pm
LOL ya he was doing that at the end of the night too. i’m light bro, just wanted to clear that up… whens the part 3 review coming up?

artiefan,
You seem to be hanging out with Artie a lot lately. So one question, do you spit or swallow?
