Artie Lange survived 2007
Monday, December 31st, 2007Happy New Year Stern Fans!
To all of our surprise Artie Lange made it through another year and whether you lost money on that bet I know you are all still happy he is here… but for how long?
I was looking through some of the posts over the past year and I was going to put together some kind of retrospection on Artie in 2007 but then I just couldn’t find the energy… kind of like someone we know.
2007 at a glance
We got to hear as Artie copped out of the staff weight loss competition, get keys to the vending machine, call out sick a bunch of times, get into the “Bro Fight” with Howard and also fight with Sal, Richard, Jason and High Pitch Mike. We listened as his weight shot up and balanced out around to a healthy 300 pounds. We heard him play an amazing prank on everyone’s favorite gay Asian, George.
2007 also marked some achievements for the big man as his movie Beer League was released on DVD (followed by airings on comedy central), was interviewed in Playboy, performed at Carnegie Hall and on October 11, Artie celebrated his 40th Birthday.
The biggest moment of the year, perhaps the biggest moments in show history, came as Artie announced he was leaving the stern show.
So what is in store for 2008?
More questions are flying around right now about Artie’s future than Eric the Midget, i mean Actor, no i mean Hit man, errr Screenwriter, or whatever the fuck he is flying with balloons. Will Artie leave the show in January? Will he live through 2008? Will he lose weight? Will he go back on heroin? Will he be able to masturbate in a normal position?
Only time will tell and when the show comes back from winter break we will all be listening very closely to make sure Howard doesn’t make an announcement that Artie Lange will not be returning… assuming he lives through New Years.
Relive one of Artie’s big moments this year with one of the many videos I put together for the site this year.
How about Save Baby Gorilla?
This year was a great year for me as I got to blog about the greatest show in broadcasting history and get some notice for it. Thanks to that wacko Britney Spears fan on You Tube, I was able to create Leave Artie Alone which opened this site up to so many more people. I tried to set up a funny charity in Artie’s name that got enough donations to adopt a couple of baby mountain gorillas. This year I will do another one. I am not sure on whether it will be another gorilla drive or something else.
I hope you all continue to comeback to the site in 2008, I hope Artie continues to give me good material to blog about and I hope that more of you speak up. There were a quarter of a million visits to the site this year and I pray it continues.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
FIRE!!
