Sirius XM - We have a merger!
After a year of lobbying and over 2 million dollars (combined) spent on lobbying their merger, the FCC has finally ok’d the merger to take place.
Thank God, its about time. Fuck the FCC!

Wait a sec,, I just read the article again, FCC still has to approve it.
“The transaction was approved without conditions, despite opposition from consumer groups and an intense lobbying campaign by the land-based radio industry.
The combination still requires approval from the Federal Communications Commission, which prohibited a merger when it first granted satellite radio operating licenses in 1997. ”

I just heard Imus mention the merger… and he was like “Well that is good news”. His co-host was taken off-guard and said ..”we its good for satellite not necessarily us”. Then Imus kept saying it was good news. I think Imus is a closet Satellite listener! lol

I would think it would be unlikely for the FCC to prohibit it if the justice depart. already gave thumbs up.

finally got a new antenna. I heard Howard saying this morning that some sticking points where that the FCC wanted to have some “control” over broadcasts?!?!!? Why is it that our government seems to want to chip away at our freedoms rather then protect them?

Oh thank God you got an antenna Artie’s heart. Yeah I don’t get why they want to control it once Sirius buys XM, which is how I read it. They aren’t controlling it now.

Overall a good thing - but not sure what it brings us…but we shall see….glad to hear Reilly Martin had a piece in getting it done ( according to him )

Maybe Imus has a back door deal that once the merger goes through he’ll be on satellite. On the Who gives a shit channel of course.

Tell me about it, i want to hang myself…. lol, like i mentioned he is on the radio channel that I fall asleep to at night. Nothing worse than waking up with a morning hard on and then immediately lose it when you realize you are hearing Imus’ voice.

Imus wishes he was on satellite. That way, he can comment about women basketball player hairstyles without any retribution.
