Crumbs bakery received a letter from LIFEbeat, the organization which was benefiting from the Artie Lange Cupcake at Crumbs bakery. Apparently Artie’s statements during past shows got back to LIFEbeat from complaints and they have responded by no longer accepting money. The cupcake has raised 10 thousand dollars so far. UPDATE - I spoke with Crumbs and the Artie Lange Cupcake will still be available for purchase.

It has recently come to my attention that Artie has made very offensive statement on the radio regarding HIV / AIDS infection, as well as, other remarks offensive to the constituency LIFEbeat serve. A national HIV / AIDS prevention organization and advocate for people living with AIDS, LIFEbeat condemns the remarks made by Mr. Lange and cannot in good conscious accept further donations from goods or services that are associated with Mr. Lange. calling someone a fag is one thing… saying I hope you catch AIDS and die, I could see why and AIDS charity would have a big problem with that!
The only thing i can say is that his record of language / humor was well documented before his cupcake came out… they should have known already he is like this.

It’s a shame somewhat. I think where Artie doesn’t realise he is doing wrong is that he said that stuff to Mike out of anger and spite, it was not said in a humorous way and he was not trying to make a joke.
His argument that Eddie Murphy said similar stuff in 1983 is lame at best and it sounds childish to boot.
It also bugs me that very often he makes gay jokes which include aids references. It just makes him sound dumb and ignorant, HIV isn’t a gay disease.
Who cares, let all the aids riddled fags die if they don’t want the money. Strong morals don’t pay tyhe bills when you are going through cold sweats, but money sure the fuck does!!
My wife worked with a gay with AIDS.He has to cash in his life savings for his meds,and it didn’t go far enough.Its all about the green and I bet my girl’s friend wouldn’t give two shits where the green comes from to keep his gay ass alive.
