This was not a HR decision. This was Howard’s call.

I see this as a good sign for Artie. It would be much worse if he stayed home wallowing in his misery and possibly much much worse than that.
Maybe they’ll dump out Teddy over the Atlantic. I am going to be pissed if Artie doesn’t come back.

What happened today was disturbing and sad, but I have to say the fact that they’re not replaying the show or airing it on Howard TV is a bunch of BS. I think it’s completely hypocritical on Howard’s part as he lives and breaths anti-FCC and anti-sensorship. At the very least he owe’s his fans an explanation as to why he and/or Sirius made this decision.
We, the fans, pay for both of these services because we love the show and the cast and it’s unfair of Howard and Sirius to use their discretion and pull the plug on what may go down as the saddest day in Howard Stern history.

I was perplexed that I couldn’t hear the show today. Total BS! Most people work while the show is on and now that they are on Sirius we masses enjoy hearing it re-broadcast. And just a side note to “ilovebabygorilla,” it’s censorship (with a C) but not the saddest day in Howard Stern history. That only happens if they don’t actually replay this show. Artie’s great but can be replaced…the big over-grown baby.
I understand Howard’s decision of not replaying the show because Artie already looks bad and Howard already knows this will be the talk of the town. Know what I’m saying?

Thank God. Hopefully there will be just enough focus on Artie over there to keep him in good company and health, but enough space to let him relax. He may be suffering from depression, but I think that it’s something he can work out on his own… He’s a big boy (no pun intended)and the last thing he wants or needs is a bunch of people around him giving unsolicited advice and telling him what to do.
That being said, I feel like a jackass giving my opinion, but here we go.
First and foremost he could start mending fences by actually parting ways AMICABLY with Teddy as an employee. Set the frendships aside. Sure Artie feels bad, but he can’t continue taking care of people that keep blurring (and crossing) the line between personal life and work. Everyone has a point where they draw the line when they’re being taken advantage of. Even if they work things out, let Teddy go with a severance package and get rid of the employer/employee pretense. That way both of them are getting what they need– Teddy is financially stable and square with Artie, and Artie can get a more reliable asstant without feeling guilty about Teddy landing on his feet. They can put it behind them with no hard feelings.
Artie is a damn good man, who can take care of himself without all of the people on the show telling him what to do. If they want to offer their two cents about how he handles his business, they can do it off-the-air. He wouldn’t dare tell Howard how to handle his assistants or employees. Have the common courtesy amongst friends to run a topic by the group to make sure its not a hot button, before its too late.

People take advantage of that! ARTIE is the BEST thing to happen to the Stern Show in a long time. He contributes a LOT more than that ass jackie ever did. I’ve been listening for 20 years and the show’s never been better.

Just call him “Coward” Stern for pulling the replays. I’m sorry. The “no censorship” rules apply to everyone but Howard? For a show that trumpets “no more bullshit”, pulling the replays is the epitome of bullshit.
I e-mailed both the show and Sirius customer service and voiced my opinion. Sirius customer service responded by saying they have been “flooded” with complaints over this, and that they are in the process of dealing with Howard and the show staff over this.
I imagine youtube is glad for the decision. . . They didn’t even post a rundown on howardstern.com for the show.

If it truly was, the replays would have run, because there would have been no reason for anybody to be “uncomfortable” in hearing a replay of what was, in effect, a staged radio play.

The fact that Artie went to Amsterdam with the guys shows this is an elaborate bit. Now that we have had 24 hours to think, look at it logically.
In the very beginning of the show, Artie alluded to being all ’set’ to go to Amsterdam in 10 hours…Howard strangely said ‘a lot can happen between now and then Art.’ Then a random fight breaks out, Artie storms off and we get what we have now. If it were a real fight, Artie would be soooooo much in misery he would be catatonic in his moms basement eating pasta. Instead he leaves the show, goes to a diner and eats macaroni…Then gets ready to go to Amsterdam. Teddie goes too? Come on, wake up and smell the BS.
Excellent ruse setup to make everyone get interested in listening while they are on vacation. You all do know the show is tape delayed by about an hour so there was ample time to pull the fight, then come up with some cover story if it were real. Pulling replays and getting Mutt to take down the Shitfannetwork for a while added to the hysteria. That and all of us posting here and there on the net.

I couldn’t agree more with TGI_Cupcake. It’s so hard for me to understand how Artie can hire basically an intern that was opening his mail as a “part-time” PA. That’s nuts. He can more than afford the professional he needs to keep is business and life in order. Well all know Artie is mentally shot. It’s just another one of the many ways he sabbotage’s himself.
If HR pulled the show what makes anyone here think that they are going to let Artie back? And whats up with Gary being “afraid” of fat oaf, is the whole stern staff made up of pussies? Arties a fat fuck that couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag. He gets winded using escalators, 30 seconds into the fight Artie would end up falling down exhausted. No one has control over Howards show except Howard. That was one of the deal points he made with Sirius. This bullshit HR pulled it, is simply that…HR at Sirius has NO effect on programming.

As for explaining the Amsterdam trip, Artie probably feels remorse toward Teddy and liked the idea of leaving town, even more so after this. Ultimately, I think the blow-up and very little to do with Teddy.

That was such a bunch of crap that they didn’t replay the show.. After listening to it several times on the youtube links this is all Howard’s fault and he should feel horrible that he took a person he knew was fragile and had been unstable all week (and most of his life) and sided against him when money became an issue between him and Teddy. As everyone who listens to the show knows money and family are the only two things that will actually make Artie snap.

If you think that Artie getting mad at teddy was an act then you are the slow one. Is Teddy an actor? Did you hear Robin during the show? If you have listen to the show on any level for more the a few years you would know that Artie freaking out was not an act.

They even replayed this on Carolla this morning because David Spade was a guest and they wanted his take on funny, fat drug abusers. Spade’s insight was that once they’re out od control, and you feel like you’ve done your best to help them, at a certain point there’s really nothing you can do to help. Then, once they’re dead you’ll be blamed for giving up.

Howard probably pulled the replay because he didn’t want people to hear how eagerly he accepted Artie’s resigination. You know it drives Howard crazy that Artie is the most popular member of the show (shown to be true on his own website poll) so his provocation of Artie yesterday could have been on purpose. And Ms. Perfect Robin could barely hide her glee about Artie leaving (Have you ever heard her sound so upbeat during her stupid news?) Over the past several weeks Howard has been on the side of HPM and Teddy even though both only try to antagonize and embarrass Artie. No wonder Artie never considered Howard a ‘bro.’ I hope HPM and Teddy can help Howard keep Sirius subscribers onboard after fans realize the show sucks without Artie. Maybe then Howard will finally understand Artie’s most important contribution to the show, that being the one person fans can most often understand and relate to.

Why is it that, when Howard doesn’t completely take Artie’s side for the first time EVER, it is that Howard is a backstabbing asshole. Howard did not fire him when he was using dope when anyone else would have and didn’t when Artie made his first physical attack of the show when anyone else would have fired him. Howard, once again, saw Artie not speaking, but bullying, during an argument and wanted to allow Teddy a chance to speak and not be further disrespected by yhe ever-erratic Artie. Didn’t the line about how Teddy has been stealing from him for months pretty much show his extreme paranoia and, apparent, relapse into being a degenerate drug abuser. Suspend him for a few months while he is in rehab and see if he is able to control his increasingly immature attitude that he has taken towards his job, a 4 day a week job that pays an astronomical wage that he is too lazy to attend. I love Artie, but he is killing the show.

Boo Boo .. a lot of people are going to Amsterdam this weekend.. do you think Howard would let them all leave work early? Like they couldnt have bought their tickets for a different flight?
first of all amsterdam is hardly a 3rd world country. maybe a little education would help. 2nd of all their flight was at 630pm so why the fuck would they need to leave earlier than thier 12/1pm end time. artie is done even earlier than that! 3rd, teddy is not a theif and artie even has said that ted is a good kid and is loyal. he just overreacted as he has done in the past. it is not fake. it pisses me off that people think so.
No one wanted to hate Artie more than me when he got the Jackie spot. But within a week I was a convert now I’ll be sad to see him go if it comes to that. But if it wasn’t a bit Artie was WAY outta line no matter WHAT Teddy may or may not have done. And some kind of disciplinary action should happen.
Artie ain’t going nowhere; he’ll be back on the next show and they’ll do the “let’s not talk about it” thing again and he’ll blow up in another two months.

Preliminary reports and radar data indicate that the the First Class Cabin may have been massively overloaded and unbalanced, causing structural failure of the entire plane as it struggled to gain altitude. According to an unanmed source in the FAA, the initial investigation is focusing on reports that famed 300 plus pound comedian Arthur Lange may be to blame. Eyewitnesses on a fishing boar in the Long Island Sound report seeing dozens of crumb cakes, half-moons and at least three cases of Hawaiin punch rain down. One eyewitness claims to have seen what appeared to be vending machine land judt off the north shore of long island.
Also being reported is that certain staff members of the Howard Stern Show may have been on the plane as well, but an FAA insider indicated that nobody cares.

F Robin, I agree w/you (except I didn’t get to hear the news…I’m on the West Coast so only got to hear the fight on YouTube). I never thought I’d see the day, but I couldn’t bear to hear Howard’s voice today on the radio because I’m so pissed at him. He’s been trying to control Artie’s behavior/counsel him and sticking up for HPMike, and then yesterday he just had to bring that fight into the studio, knowing tempers were already flaring. Then he took Teddy’s side, and voila! The volcano erupts, and dumbass Howard doesn’t understand what happened. How many times has Artie told him that he has anger and violence issues?? But Howard just had to have the fight ON THE AIR. No regard for Artie or his welfare was taken into consideration – a “bro” wouldn’t treat a brother or friend that way.
Oh yeah, and gee, then he turned around and BANNED IT FROM THE AIR. Not only is it blatant censorship, but it just fuels the fire – if the show was being played, there would still be a lot of discussion but not nearly as much. It’s the ‘mystery’ of something that gives it it’s superpowers.

I don’t think it was staged. The acting was way too good. Artie is simply an out of control load. Amsterdam will be good for him. Lots of women he can pay for sex. With his ass as fat as it is now, that’s about the only way he could get laid, even with his (minor) celebrity status.

I find it funny that Howard pulled the replay when just that morning they were talking about how some TV show wouldn’t broadcast a guest DYING on-air and saying that they should. I don’t think it was a fake, or staged. It was certainly sad for this to happen, but come on, it’s been brewing for a while, Artie is an addict (on many fronts) and anyone that knows anything about addicts knows that they generally do not seek help until they’ve hit rock bottom, and in a lot of cases, addicts need to facilitate the fall to the bottom. What seems to you and I as idiotic decisions (a guy like Artie renouncing the show, snapping, fighting, not showing up) is perfectly rational thinking in the minds of addicts. Sadly with out the benefit of the show Artie will see that the stand up gigs will be few & far between.
I believe that the only way that Artie can possibly return is if he is entered (and monitered) in a program, with both a therapist, addiction counseling, and quite possibly anger management. Remember that Howard & the gang are all employees of Sirius, Howard may have a lot of say so there, but you’d better believe that in this case Sirius’ Human Resource Dept is watching, and they can’t afford to open themselves up to this kind of liability. Artie has struck twice, and has multiple near strikes, all of which are documented on air, now if he is allowed to return with out the help of some therapy, and he attacks again, imagine the lawsuit Sirius would face knowingly allowing someone to return who is a ticking timebomb. Both times he attcked (Sal & Teddy) he went from 0 to rage in seconds. I think that Arties future is not in Howards hands any longer, but in the hands of Sirius’ legal dept.
Although it might be a ploy so that he doesn’t have to hang out with Richard that hairy boil guy in Vegas. The one he promised he’d get him laid by a hooker next time he goes there.

They wouldn’t have had a great guest like Jason Reitman lined up for AFTER the event. Howard loves Jason, and the guy just came off directing one of the best movies of the year.
Say what you want about Howard, but anyone who’s a long-time fan of the show knows that he would never allow a GOOD guest to be put in such a weird and awkward position.
Jason Reitman is now one of the best directors in Hollywood, or at least one of the hottest right now. Jason now has every right to be super pissed at Howard … almost no one heard him on the air because of the lack of replays and lack of West Coast feed. He was there to promote the release of the “Juno” DVD this coming Tuesday. By pulling the show, Howard just fucked the movie studio out of millions of DVD sales. He wouldn’t plan to do that in advance.
Howard would never PLAN to fuck Jason Reitman (and Ivan Reitman) like that. He risks losing Hollywood guests and alienating Hollywood studios. And he has too much love and respect for Jason and Ivan.

I don’t think Artie is to be blamed. It is Howard’s show and Howard picks the topics. April 10, 2008 Howard choose to bring Teddy into the studio and live on-air. Howard constantly gets under people’s skin, and after listening to the replay (youtube/torrents) I will think it is 95% Howard’s fault.
Here is why:
1. Every time the fight looked to be over, Howard would set off a spark to keep the fight going.
2. Right after the implication (physical altercation) Robin said to Howard…”Why are you bringing this up?” This was the first sign of my reasoning. Then she said “You know he can’t deal with this stuff.” To which Howard replied “You calm down.” She never brought it up again.
3. Howard hates to be wrong, he refused to (the first time in Sirius History) to replay the show. Howard knows this and didn’t want the rest of the Sirius world to hear his mistake.

Teddy tried three times to leave so that the fight would de-escalate. Even Robin knew Howard was at fault until he told her to shut up and remember where all her cars, horses, boats and millions come from. Then she did a 180. Artie is the best part of the show and if he goes I go. It’s as simple as that. Artie is the only one on that show that will talk beck to Howard when he thinks Howard is wrong. He kisses no ones ass. I hope he stays, but if not it’s over for me. Howard hasn’t been able to book a famous guest for a long time. Why? Because nobody wants to be asked if they have had their salad tossed or whatever the hell kind of creepy shit Howard is into these days. He gets creepier by the min. I think Artie is too good for the show.
clearly they are not replaying it out of respect for artie and teddy – this was obviously a mental freaking breakdown for artie – howard has huge integrity for not replaying it. this is a man (artie) who is seriously disturbed and in the midst of a psychological crisis – good for howard for having the sense not to replay it his audience can get some twisted enjoyment out of what was a very sad moment.

I do think it was real and Howard pulled it because he may have thought that is was to hot to re broadcast immediately. I think it will be replayed eventually.

First and foremost, I hope Artie is o.k. Yes, he has issues and NEEDS help, but he’s a sensitive guy who feels a tremendous amount of guilt for his problems and how his problems affect others. Typical addict behavior.
Im not sure that Amsterdam was the right move for someone in his shape.
I do think Howard was wrong and that he did instigate the argument, but at the heart of it all he’s a very sensitive and conscientious person. He cares about his colleagues like family. A very dysfunctional family.
Howard knows what makes for good radio. This, unfortunately, did. I believe he will go on the air, apologize to the listeners and admit that he was caught up in the moment of what makes good radio.
He’s listened to the replay. Anyone who has listened to him through the years, knows that his OCD was kicked into overdrive and he will be obsessing about this until the 21st when he can go back on the air and address it. I believe he feels terribly.
I don’t think Howard’s intention is to censor his mistake.

If you had heard the initial broadcast and not just the youtube clips, it was clear that Howard and Robin felt terribly about the fight, Artie’s leaving and the uncertainty of it all. Both were primarily concerned about his well being, as were Benjy and the rest of the crew.
However you may feel about Artie, Howard, Robin, censorship, or Sirius, I’m sure you’ll all be tuning in on the 21st to hear the outcome of one of the most talked about moments in The Howard Stern Show’s history.

This Artie debacle has been grosely miss-managed by the Howard team. By failing to replay thursdays show as they should have, and post the results on howard.com, they have made more of the situation than is warranted.
Furthermore, they have elevated Artie to a position that he does not deserve, one of irreplaceableness. Artie IS replacable. So what if he had an outburst, play the fucking tape.
When top level execs get fired or quit in firms, responsible firms replace the exec ASAP and carry on business as usual. Artite is the same. If he’s gone, or if he stays, it should be business as usual. Only Howard is irreplacable, hence the “Howard Stern” show, not howard and company.
I wonder if Sirius or Howard have perhaps some market research results that may show Artie as a huge draw on the Sirius network, or if Howard has a contractural obligation to increase Sirius membership, and if his fear may be that loosing Artie, may cause the numbers to slide.
As a loyal listener, I will continue to tune into howard’s show, but I dont’ know if Artie will continue to carry such a loyal following minum the Howard Stern show. I also aggree to the outrage for halting the replay.
