I’d like to see Artie back, but he’s sealed his fate with this latest incident. How long can Howard tolerate the missed days of work, the blow-ups, the falling asleep on the air and all the other baggage that is part and parcel of Baby Gorilla?
Maybe, just maybe, a hiatus for Artie might be the best way to go…just take time off to get everything in order…Howard is rational and a friend of Artie’s and might just see his way clear to giving him a little more rope.
If a replacement is needed, my vote is for Billy Mira, the dude that does the Ozzy and David Lee Roth impressions.

Thanks for the shithouse review of my post. Bear in mind it was composed while I was metabolizing enough narcotics to kill a Kodiac Bear. That being said. Sorry shit head, I wasnt editing the post for Harpers. I was just rambling about my position on Artie. Which I stand behind. Like stated earlier. The show does not have the time to redevelop a new character as affable as Artie. I like Fitz, but if you thought my diatribe was rambling and choked with verbage. Welcome to Fitzsimmonds anytime his mic is open. Obviously I am an Artie fan. He fits the bill too strongly at this point. You can have your own position, but I feel its now the Artie Lange show featuring Howard Stern. Whats more interesting. Howard and his ever growing obsession with Chess, or Artie and dual comped hookers saddled with the dutie of eating his ass. If you disagree, I emplore you to tune to NPR and have a debate about Norman Mailers relevance. Artie is the seedy underbelly that connects disinfrancised shit heads, to old school listeners who have ironed out the kinks of youth. Aside from those attributes. Artie is target market. A Jersey bullseye. Cletus McCoy from North Dakota doesnt get any of it. But guess what. Cletus also is not in a positon to pony up the cash for 3 radios and a Howard TV subscription. Artie is target Tri state. Jackie had a role, but it NEVER, ever approached a position where it over shadowed Howards. Artie does. Most popular guy on the show. As the polling states. I know a dizzying cast of characters from my everyday life. I do not know a Howard Stern, a Fred Norris, or certainly a Robin Quivers like I know an Artie Lange. Perhaps I am biased because I come from his neck of the woods. But I think as the primary casts ages Artie is the lynch pin of the new generation of Howard fans. Thats not a commodity that is floating around to be picked up, dusted off, and made ready for me to give a shit about in the next 32 months. Nick Dipalo is funny, but the show needs a dude with one foot in show business and the other in the real world. Without any fault of his own Howard and the crew have matured. They have become insulated. Artie has his ears to the street, and makes that evident everyday. Dudes with houses in the Hamptons, and women with Yachts are not what I would call relevant parties in my day to day. I relate to a real guy, who has done well dispite his upbringing. But more importantly I relate to a guy who has done that, and has not yet figured out how to cope with it. And sorry for the errors in syntax and grammer. Please take the latest copy of the New Republic and shove it up your ass.
