True - I think Howard’s views have genuinely changed since the days of his savage AIDS comments and neanderthal opinions on gays. Maybe he still thinks gays are “created,” but he never stops giving his support towards pro-gay political issues and rights to equality. (Although I still think his parody of Brokeback Mt. was dead on.) Artie on the other hand, never stops exposing himself as the hypocritical “phony” he claimed to hate so much right before his attack of Sal. If a “regular guy” in the fit of a blind rage, where all your pc censorship is removed, wanting to call someone the worst thing he can possibly imagine goes to the gay stuff, then face it, deep in his heart he just plain hates gays. Kissing up to George T. or telling Neil P. Harris that he would support a gay son is the biggest pile of Hollywood bullshit. And the fact that he constantly equates gays and AIDS as if they’re the same thing (”Howard’s TiVo is so gay it has HIV”) only further confirms his venom.

Hampton Howie lied to Neil Patrick Harris about his feelings on gays. Listen to the Stuttering John spotlight and hear Howard saying gays aren’t born that way and they can be fixed because they are just messed up in the head. He used to do tons of AIDS jokes too so he has no room to rip Artie on it.
