7.23.08 Show Discussion

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I will be working from home tomorrow! So hopefully no show discussion thread and some old school topic based threads, unless you want me to put up a general thread so you can post anyways . Let me know.

Make sure you listen to the first half hour - Of what I heard Artie was getting some criticism from a phone caller named Pete (from Pittsburgh) and then Maryanne from Brooklyn started crowing on him too saying he should be in therapy.  Do you think Artie’s ego is getting too big? Has he been talking too much since Afganastan?

FCC votes on Sirius - XM Merger

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

To my shock and horror this evening, my brother told me that he heard on the news this afternoon that the FCC voted against the Sirius XM merger. To my dismay I immediately begain scouring the web for news on it. While i did find some reports it is unclear what the status of the vote is. There doesn’t seem to be an official verdict yet.

This article claims it all rests on one vote - Commissioner Deborah Tate. There are 5 total votes  that take place (needs 3 to pass) and so far it is split. Commissioner Michael Copps was quoted earlier saying ,”I have not pushed for any conditions that would support a finding that the transaction is in the public interest“.

I am hoping by the morning we will hear what the decision is. I am not feeling too good about this. Its a freaking travesty. If this doesn’t go through it is just another step of America losing its identity.

Talk about the show you lucky bastards!

– Update –

6:25am

Just got out of the shower and heard Artie saying he loves a girl but he hasnt slept with her or anything. Once Howard questioned the word love, Artie said that was the wrong word but he really likes this girl (local girl he met at a show) and he would love to see it go to the next level. He said eventually he may ask her out but he said he has trained himself to not think that far ahead and get that love feeling before anything happens because he has had his heart broken too many times…  hmmm… no Dana.

Its monday… can we please have another day for the weekend?

———-

Looks like my Stiletto doesn’t work on the train. As for listening at work, our Internet connection is a little slow but they are getting an additional T1 line so hopefully I’ll start listening a little there.

Hey now!

Checking In

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Hey Everyone!

I am glad to see that you guys/gals are posting up a bunch in the show discussion threads. It doesn’t substitute for original posts and such but I gotta say y’all have really stepped up and I am very thankful its not just blank white space here. Maybe its just because the Show is back from vacation. Regardless, I am very happy to see the posts.

My update

The job is going great, only the second day but this the type of company I have always wanted to work at. The kind of company that gives their employees so much. With that being said, its also demanding. In time I may be able to stream the show at work. I haven’t been able to try out my Stiletto too much but it did show I was getting a signal on the train, which is a fucking shocker. That thing can’t pick up a signal if I am standing outside my house under a tree nevermind inside of a train.

SBG Help

I was very pleased to see all the responses to my request for help. I am not making any decisions this week as I am not sure what a normal day will be for me yet. However, when the time comes where I stop denying that I need some help I will be looking for the following criteria:

  • someone who is able to listen to the majority of the show
  • an easy going person with a sense of humor
  • someone who can give a fair representation of Artie stuff from todays show
  • a motivated person
  • someone who would truly like to help out SBG, not to plug themselves

This isn’t a pay job. I never really made any money off of the site besides a couple ads [considering all the time I put in, hosting costs, etc]

Hey Now for now! Hopefully we can get some entertaining shit back on here soon!

Artie shows up at Bubbapalooza Atlantic City

Monday, July 14th, 2008

A scathing review of Bubba the Love Sponge’s Bubbapalooza at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City is up at PressofAtlanticCity.com. Despite the author’s dislike of seeing the guys in person, he reviewed Sal and Artie’s surprise performances.

While Governale’s stage personality has morphed into a totally racist pig who’s not that funny, Lange killed.

In fact, Lange got the only standing ovation of the night, and he deserved it. Obviously the most professional and funniest guy to hit the stage all night, the 300-pound comic immediately made fun of his weight.

“I just got back from Afghanistan (entertaining the troops), and as you can see, I lost a bunch of weight,” Lange joked, adding that five Mike Schmidts would have fit into the 318-pound Bubba’s jersey.

Lange mixed old and new material, particularly concentrating on sports. He surprisingly did more than 45 minutes, nearly a complete set for the comic.

“Every time you say Eagles, they have to spell it,” Lange said. “It’s like a spelling bee for retards. Now, let’s use Eagles in a sentence: The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl. If Donovan McNabb wants a ring, he better get married.”
