8.13.08 Show Discussion
Its wednesday…. fucking wednesday.
Question:
Tattoos were being discussed this morning. Artie never would get a tattoo in the past but these days he would get one if he found something he liked.
What would be an appropriate tat for Art?

Building on yesterday’s discussion concerning the “declining” quality of the show, I admit I am only a recent listener. While I enjoy listening to Master Tape Theater and the specials they run with clips from the “old shows”, I much rather enjoy listening to the show in its present state.
And while I agree that certain people are not terribly beneficial to the show, like Sal, I think Artie Lange is a great addition to the show. I know that people have their qualms about Artie, and they are entitled to, but isn’t this supposed to be a sort of “fan site” for Artie? It seems like there are always very harsh critiques of Artie in the comments section. Artie is, to me, a very talented comedian, with of course many faults, who really livens up the show with his stories and experiences.
I always liked when they had a stripper on one time, and when Howard asked, she said she “lost” her virginity when she was sixteen, to which Artie very quickly replied, “Say a prayer to St. Anthony”.

I agree, artiefan, I don’t know what it is, but I have real trouble listening to the old shows. Somehow though, the “Sirius So Far” worked for me since I got Sirius late in the game (January ‘08). I feel like I finally got up-to-date since they went to satellite.

I also agree about old shows. Give me live or give me nothing. I do like the new idea for the Friday show though…best segments of the week at times other than when they originally aired. That’s what John Hein brings to the table…foresight.
I actually kind of get insulted when they try to make us care about the lives of Jason or Will or other ancillary staffers. That’s just lazy, uninspired shit. Why would I care about some douche’s wedding? I don’t.
I still listen because I have been a huge fan for 20 years…and I want it to still be great…plus, even the Howard Stern Show at 50% of what it once was is still 49% better than everything else on radio…and I am paying for it after all.
Those of you who think Howard is somehow beyond or undeserving of criticism probably think our President is doing just fine, too. I can just hear you now…’If you don’t like Dubya…move to another fucking country, you unpatriotic sumbitch!”
Everyone and everything is subject to critique.

I like the Friday re-cap show too. Jon Heinz does a really nice job with the wrap-up show as well.
I agree, I don’t really care too much about the lives of the staff, well except for maybe JD, he is always pretty entertaining.

Artie should definitely get a poppy flower tatoo..
The only time I really like old shows are the ones with the really great interviews, like Chris Rock, Richard Simmons, Sam Kinison, etc. I don’t want to hear some stupid porn star that isn’t around any more ride the Sybian.
I would prefer a good taped show over a live Jay Thomas. When Master Tape Theater played on Friday morning and Bubba was live, I would listen to Bubba.
That all being said, I listened to Artie’s drug story three times on Monday…..

Hay, I lOOOOOOVE the old shows. When I was relevant!
I can’t wait for Artie to die so that I can get back on the show.
