Artie apologizes to Lisa G
Artie apologized to Lisa G this morning and she accepted. He said that he stands by what he was thinking but what he said wasn’t nice.

Lisa said she called Dr. Drew back yesterday. He said that he has nothing to do with the initial casting of the show. After producers find celebrities to be on the show, they ask Drew if the show’s environment would be conducive for their treatment. Drew said he had no idea that the producers were bothering Artie that much and said he would tell them to knock it off. Artie said it has been awhile since the last time they called.
Artie admitted he lied yesterday when he said that he signed a non-disclosure about how much the offer was for doing the show. The offer was $250,000 for 3 weeks. Howard said he would let Artie do the show if Artie thought it would really help but Artie said he didn’t believe it would.
- Artie says his lowest moment is when he bought urine from a guy he knew was clean back when Howard threatened drug tests.
- Norm MacDonald says Artie is funnier when Artie is sober.
- Artie will be on the final Mad TV episode which airs May 16th?

So you wrote him and he called you? He didn’t say who contacted him, I thought at one point he said someone wrote in and then later he said it in the plural tense.

Artie commented today that his mother was getting too old to deal with his problems and that it was time for him to “man up”. That’s a positive revelation, and I hope for his sake he is turning a corner. But something about his self-imposed rehab doesn’t seem kosher. I mean, we’re talking about heroin, for crissakes! Hey! They’re discussing Lyme disease right now-I guess Depace has it, too.
Seems to be a rash of people getting ticks on their balls……how does that happen?
I got a tick on me (my ankle not my sweaty balls) last year because I do a lot of yard work (but I live in Southern Maine in a rural area). I got tested for Lyme disease but only had one “band” so I have to get retested in a few months. We now hire a compnay to spray for ticks in the yard (and it helps that my neighbors do too).

Last year when I was at WLC training in Nebraska we had to do a lot of low-crawling during “missions” and I got some ticks on me. They were in my sleeping bag and I woke up one night because I felt a pinch on my neck-a tick was just startin’ to dig in. I didn’t even think about Lyme disease-I was more interested in getting my 3 hours of sleep that night!
I never thought much about Lyme disease until my feet, hands, face started to go numb… not to mention headaches, fatigue, breathing problems, swollen lymph nodes..
Wow-if I didn’t already know that I have MS I’d think I have Lyme disease! Symptoms are almost the same!
Yea first we were looking at B12 deficiency … that Lyme, MS has very similar symptoms.

In response to Dave. Howard will get rid of Artie in a flash. Especially when degrading Lisa G like that and with Artie threatening to basically quit again. Too many comedians out there to replace him, that will appreciate that chair. Artie subconsciously has taken it for granted. We can’t save baby gorilla, he has to save himself.

Don’t understand why everyone is hating on the HS News Team. Wasn’t this Howard’s (or the HS Show) idea in the first place?? I think people have lost sight of the fact that he hired straight news men like Steve Langford and Ralph Howard to make it all the more funny — serious news guys making stories out of anal ring toss! You know, the absurdity of it all. I can care less about Lisa G, but she is only doing her job.
I think Howard is a genius in that he knows that the News Team will eventually stir up controversy, which only makes the show better, more interesting.

I get that, and it started off as kind of funny, and sometimes it still is, but my main thing has been just hating the fact that Lisa G tries to interject herself into the show. The whole reason Robin backed up Artie was self-serving: A) She thought Artie was going to explode again and wanted to calm him down (’stop picking at him’) and B) She’s always had a problem with the news department and now she’s jumping on Artie’s wagon to help her cause.

Only when reacting to stories… When the Leave Artie Alone video came out he actually said the name of the website. But he doesn’t endorse the site or anything. Obviously he knows about it and I met him twice, but I don’t think he likes people talking about him.
I think Langford does a great job playin’ the straight news guy. Lisa G just gets on my last nerve. That voice was not made for radio. The face is fine for radio, but not the voice.
Every so often I see this Running show on YES channel and I swear its Lisa G’s voice that is used during a segment. I’ve seen it twice. Empire State Building Race or something.
UNRELATED – does anyone know if Howard has something against Denis Leary? Artie has brought up being on this season of Rescue Me and this week he mentioned how funny Denis’s new book is and nothing. Has Denis ever been a guest on the show?
I don’t understand how Howard can go on about lame tv like American Idol but not even give Rescue Me one little mention – unless I missed something…just curious
@Cupcake: Couldn’t agree more; I don’t get Howard’s obsession with shows like AI, The Bachelor, and Dancing w/the Stars – I think he just fits the demographic. Notice he rarely, if ever, comments on any comedy shows? Hmmm…
On the topic of Lisa G, I could take her or leave her, but she is only doing her job, and I don’t think she tries to “interject” herself into the show, as others suggested. In fact, it’s the other way around, Howard (mainly) is the one who always tries to dig into her love/personal life. However, replace her tomorrow with another talking head, and we wouldn’t blink twice. And then Howard would ask that person about their sex life – that’s the HSS.
Artie was right to apologize. Good for him. Baby steps for the baby gorilla.

I don’t know how you’re doin’ it. I was unemployed and uninsured for a year after I was diagnosed with MS. I was scared to death that the next place I went to work wouldn’t cover me because I have a pre-existing condition but I’m covered now.

I thankfully had a couple extra bucks saved.. but that is nearly depleted. I am getting an unemployment check so that helps. I got cheap rent. But when you spend $450 in one clip on blood tests, it don’t last long. I spent $750 just on blood tests so far, out of pocket.

Well, looks like Drew Peterson won’t be spending this weekend at the Bunny Ranch-they finally arrested his ass in connection with his 3rd wife’s murder. I was on that one-I was gonna take a ride to good ol’ Mound House and get some pictures! The husbands’ goin’ fishin’ so I was gonna dust off my bike and go on a mission.
Oh yea-I haven’t sent you pictures yet because I have a new laptop and it won’t let me download my Kodak software! I’ll figure it out this weekend.

Artie is going through a hard time right now. He should be commended for what he is doing right now and I agree, the news team should lay the heck off of him. Howard take a listen to your staff, Robin, Fred and Artie when they say that the coverage can be too much sometimes. Go Artie, keep doing what you are doing. I have a brother who is a herion addict and I know how hard what you are doing is!
Just want to say the Thursday show was STELLAR this week. It made up for a long stretch of mediocrity.
Two great and, more importantly, non-annoying guests (one surprisingly so), Artie on Fiyah, everybody seemed to bring their A game. (Except Robin of course; she’s just perennial dead weight.)
I am going to listen to it again. Norm is a neglected treasure.
I agree TTT-this was a great week with lots of great interviews and funny shit. I listened to the dualing stutterers about 5 times-I can’t get enough of that! I have always loved Norm and that fact that the first thing he did when he walked in was hack up a lung chunk and throw it in Howard general direction just capped it! I just hope we’re not back to a week of porn skank interviews and Sibian rides-that’s like hearing the same interview of the same person for the whole week.
