How much are you willing to pay for Sirius XM?

While it looks like Sirius XM is finally coming to the iPhone this summer, how much are you really going to enjoy it?

The word is that the app will be free, however, expect an added fee to your monthly subscription to use it. And if you think just because you don’t have an iPhone that you won’t be paying more, you are wrong. Rumor has it that, starting at the end of July, we will all be paying a couple extra bucks per month for royalty fees.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, I thought we were supposed to make out better when Sirius and XM merged. Somehow us Sirius users got screwed on the sports package and got our rates raised.

If it weren’t for Howard, I’d be canceling right now. And sadly, the show barely seems to keep me hanging on these days.

well i am not willing to pay 2 bucks more if i cant get baseball. I was hoping they would have the option to get baseball for sirius users. The best of xm is a joke and not worth a crap.

I just added you to my google reader and it’s nice to see some sort of Howard Stern presence on the web. I have been waiting patiently for an iPhone app and if they charge me extra being a lifetime subscriber ill be pretty upset!

Just download the show and listen to it at your leisure on any device you like. If you’re a paid subscriber it’s entirely within your moral right to do so… (not your strictly legal one though). Don’t the S50’s do that anyway?

Charging extra and separately for web and mobile access is nuts.

    I got a portable one… horrible.

  5. artiefan says:

I don’t use the fucking thing. Tied to my computer.

  6. artiefan says:

Actually, it would be cool if it got reception. Only if its hooked up to a car kit.

  7. The only way that this will fly is if Howard announces that he is re-signing. Really though, I use the streaming more than anything else. If the price becomes too much, I will just download them off the internet. Fuck you gay Howard.

  8. stiney says:

well i just had my sub renewed automatically which i forgot about, but now i cant use the internet radio anymore which was the only thing i have been listening to now that i am unemployed. I guess it is time to call and tell them to go to hell because this nickle and dime bullshit is getting old!!!!

  9. Is Lisa G gonna be on “Guess the Tranny?”

Hey, i’m willing to go up to $20 a month since Sirius IS my main source of entertainment…i don’t DO cable, and whenever i wanna watch TV Vinnie Favale’s network got more than enough good programming:)

I loooove Howard, I have been listening to him for 25 years (Christ, did I just say that?), since I was 14 years old. I am addicted. He’s all I listen to on Sirius. But throughout my whole subscription, the equipment I have been getting has been crap!

In the entire time he’s been on I have been through at least 3 new devices, and currently have a Stilleto that I need to return too. They don’t even make it through the year warranty!

If wasn’t so addicted I would have done away with this nonsense long ago. But I’m chronically ill and Howard and Co, make me laugh, distract me from my pain, etc.

Signal for me has never been great either as I live in an apartment that has no windows facing the way they recommend for the best reception.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

Pay more ? ROFLMAO! Last time I resubscribed they tried to nickle and dime me with all the extra bs I was getting for free. I told them I was willing to pay the same as I did last year and that I wasnt going to pay more for internet streaming. They agreed and I am still paying the same as I did from the start. Kinda sucks but you have to dicker with these assholes.

  12. stiney says:

wow i guess it does pay to bitch. I called and told em i was done with their service as all i listen too is the internet radio and they gave me 5 free months to keep me on. That is all i wanted so until the actual price hike i will stay. And on top of that i finally got that promised premium radio they said we would get.

  13. artiefan says:

What the fuck?! So we aren’t getting the premium radio as of right now. Figures. I guess we all have to call up now?

  14. artiefan says:

We need to call into the show and complain.

My thoughts haven’t changed. I have the original Sportster in my car (the one with the supercharged FM out signal that overtakes all the cars around me) and I will not be buying any new equipment. I’ll continue as long as Howard continues or if me Sportster stops working. It’s too bad, because I’d really like to get baseball but I’ve got mlb.tv for that now.

Satellite radio just doesn’t seem all that different from the internet now that wi-fi is everywhere and all the new phones can access wi-fi.

Same here; if not for Stern I would have cancelled a long time ago. Plus, the shows are available all over the ‘net for free. I do not condone downloading for free but they’re out and available. It seems to me that the wrong thing to do right now is continue to price out the consumer with nickels and dimes like sirius is doing. And its really hard to get good reception in Chicago for me. The answer is to make the show and sirius as portable as possible. The app can save them if they do it right and not string out the consumer for a few more sheckels. I’d stay on as a consumer if the app worked well and I did not feel like I was being nickeled and dimed to remain a subscriber.

  17. artiefan says:

Here is what you do. Cancel Stern. Go to http://www.MarksFriggin.com everyday. See what was on the show, if it sounds interesting then download it.

  18. bpollard says:

I love Howard, but I am getting sick of sirius as well. The signal in the car is mediocre at best (it was much better with my same setup back in California) and I am PISSED that we don’t get MLB baseball. Howard spoke time and time again about how the Sirius fans would get MLB baseball and it didn’t fucking happen. Before his last break, he said on air that he would look into why it didn’t happen, and to my knowledge he never did.
This raising the price stuff will be the end of them – the technology or material isn’t that great to substain these high prices.
