Dr. Drew Pinsky (therapist to the stars) came in studio this morning to plug his new VH1 show, Sex Rehab. In a surprising admission, Artie said that he had called Dr. Drew during his mini-breakdown / show absence. The two spoke two different times for about an hour and a half (in total). The second time being Labor Day.
Last we all knew, Artie had a major disliking for Drew and repeatedly badmouthed him on the air. Artie explained that his opinion changed when Drew had wrote a note to Gary after the passing of DJ AM, in which he had expressed his worry for Artie’s health. Artie said he was touched.
When Artie fell into depression, his sister, Stacey, urged him to call Dr. Drew. Little did Artie know that Stacey had previously reached out to Dr. Drew because she was having similar emotions in dealing with issue of their deceased father.

Dane Cook was in studio today and it didn’t seem like Artie had a problem with him either anymore.

Im calling shenanigans! Artie was all over Dane Cooks success and generally hating the guy cuz he makes more cash (and movies) than Artie The Drunken Warthog does. First time he sees him in the studio Howard dummies up and doesnt call Artie out.
Artie’s opinion of Dane Cook has changed ovr the past couple of years. He started off being totally dismissive of the guy and then over time seems to not mind him so much.
Hey, if Howard can be friends with Rosie, Artie can change his mind about Dane Cook.
I happen to like, not love, Dane Cook. But I can understand how some may not get him at all. He’s not a joke and punchline kind of guy, can be very dirty.
I think it also pisses comedians off when they see a guy like Dane Cook really succes at a relatively younger age, especially the unknowns who have been at it for 20 odd years. Or the older ones who get only a taste of success after 40. Thus all the hating.
He does a great rant on his last cd about how he found all these “dane cook sucks” web sites on google, started reading them, and concluded, “wow, this dane cook guy IS an asshole!” Pretty funny.
Lastly, going on track record, most Dane Cook movies actually suck.
mr brooks was a good movie, very shocked on that, but if i remember correctly dane cook is barely in the movie.
To be fair, most comedians movies suck. I don’t think Chris Rock (one of the funniest comedians ever) has ever made a good comedy movie.
Dane Cook is a funny guy.
And Artie is the first person to say that comedians are a cynical bunch.
…which they are.
