Excerpt:
What is the biggest challenge for you as a stand-up comic?
The biggest challenge? Just consistency. Ya know, it’s almost like baseball players. Baseball is a long season and you can go 4 for 4 in a game and you want to try to avoid a slump and stuff like that. In baseball it is expected that you might go into a little slump but with comedy, if you go from city to city, every show has to be good. Of course, there are better shows than others but there are times on the road that I wish I had taped a particular set because it was great. There are a lot of factors, you could be tired or it’s a crazy crowd that is more rowdy and you might do a show that wasn’t as good as the last one. Then you are like “Fuck! I know how to do this, I know how it works! Every show should be good!” Consistency is the biggest challenge, consistently doing it well and putting on a good show.
Artie. Do you have any words for the critics or the fans?
Well, critics are weird. I don’t know what to say about a critic. The line has become so blurred. Some critics are just fans and now with the age of the internet, everyone is a critic. Everyone’s got a blog or something. I have never been someone who has gotten great reviews, so I am sorta over that. A critic is gonna do whatever they want and I don’t really have much to say to them. But to the fans, I want to thank them for making me feel so welcome wherever I see them. I think being on the radio gives you a stronger bond with fans then anything else. I think that Howard Stern’s fans love him way more then Brad Pitt’s fans love him, ya know what I mean? It’s a strong connection! Howard has created a great atmosphere there that I have been able to fit into. I would tell the fans thanks for making me feel like I am part of a family that they are in too, I really appreciate it. And thanks for spending their hard earned money to see me or buy something. It’s not easy nowadays to go see someone at a club or whatever, so I appreciate all of that.

Hello yoohoo-where is everybody? Where is Matt?
Hey, guys-could ya do some posting over the next month? I’m gonna be incommunicado on an island in Japan. I know I know-STFU about your Army stuff Alpha-not giving any details, just sayin’ I’ll be off the grid for a little while. I’d like to have some stuff to read when I get back.
Have a great Thanksgiving, fans of fatboy! I’ll be eatin’ MRE’s and freezing my little ass off!
ill be in punta cana enjoying my honeymoon hahahaha enjoy those japons. have a good thanksgiving mofos and GO PATRIOTS!!!!
I like the old format of this blog a lot better.
Old Format? You can discuss the show over at DailyStern / Sterniverse.com – I’m running that as well. If everyone would use that one there could be more daily conversations taking place! It is going thru transition, I am gonna make it look more like SBG
@alpha – you know where to find me! Take care of yourself, girl!
That would be okay if anyone was on it but there’s hardly any comments at DailyStern. Often no comments at all
Not true, some of the regulars here have posted there but you other slackers don’t go over there, hence, nobody goes there regularly.
I am getting someone to update that blog, so hopefully there will be more “reason” to go.
Yeah man, it’s been lame at BOTH sites for awhile now. I think the decision to separate SBG with Sterniverse or whatever was a bad one.
Also, so what if we discuss non-Artie, but Stern show related topics on SBG? At this point, there is no SBG without the Stern show any way, why the need for two sites.
AF, I know you’ve explained yourself on this topic before. However, even you gotta’ admit, either we’re all collectively losing interest in Artie and the Stern show ALL at the same time, and/or the concept of having two very similar sites is just not working. I gotta’ believe traffic is way down here. Just sayin’..don’t mean to piss you off or anything.
Ill never admit it was a bad decision. You werent the guys that had to run this website. It was getting crazy with having to put up a daily post (that had nothing to do with Artie). Yea we were getting alot of discussions here, and that was nice, but it was a shitload of moderation for me cuz I get an email everytime someone posts…and reading nearly every single one making sure people arent being dicks – which there was plenty of that at times.
SBG started out 3 years ago exactly how you see it now, Artie only. I wanted it back how it is now. In fact, I get the same about of web traffic as I did then. Its still a good amount of search traffic. Sure it isnt people posting but I don’t need comments in order for Google to rank it high.
STERNiverse is a separate idea all together and its not necessarily one in which people interact. Yea, it would be nice if the blog caught traction, frankly, I think the old design template turned many off.
There really isnt much going on with Artie. Personally, Im burnt out, I think many of the followers of this blog are too. We have over analyzed the show and Baby G in every way.
However, Twitter has been very busy and I spend most my time there. There is more interaction action there than I can even keep up with.
With all that being said, I have never made money off this website and I need to make a living. Keep this website active every day isnt going to pay my rent and put food on the table.
AF, I get it. We’re just spoiled because it has been a pretty good run, fun to participate, and now seems like the thrill is gone for everyone involved.
Would be good if you could parlay these skills into a paying gig somehow. At least, good for you I mean. Good luck…
Thanks, dude. I have been trying to turn this into something. Unfortunately that time is past I think. Maybe if it was a fan site for another person, lol.
It was a good run tho. As much as it was a pain in the ass, it was nice to see all the people here.
It ain’t over tho … just another shade of gray.
HA! I have access in Japan from the aid station! Now I need you guys to keep me updated if Artie does anything stupid!
