Looks like Artie wanted to get in at least one extra day off before the year is over.
No voicemail today, only a text.

That’s ok Artie. We know its not easy “working” 20 hours a week AND being a junkie.
Just take the rest of the year off while you’re at it. This will give you plenty of time to come up with a good story like the last one about a “mini-breakdown”.

Come on! At least give Stern something to talk about when you “call” in sick. Stern can’t talk to Jeff the Drunk w/out Artie there.
At least Jackie would show up for work. Artie’s saga isn’t even entertaining anymore.
I actually think the discussion about Artie being out, even without the goofy voicemail, is better than anythink Jackie does. That Joke Hunt show might be one of the worst shows I ever heard. Jackie makes Riley look like Howard.
Maybe JD and Arite are doing heroin together….
There seems to be a pattern of Artie doing a show and then missing work, even if the show is in NJ. I struggle with depression and anxiety as well and feel for him. I worry about him like he is in my family as I know a lot of people on here do. Just get well soon, Artie!
Artie is a complete mess!! Its rediculas already! the guy gets off 10 weeks a year works 20 hrs a week and gets paid 100 times what an average laborer makes, and he still cant show up to work. He takes complete advantage of Howard and the show. Enough about the break down and the drugs. WAAAA! fire the selfish scum bag. And I used to be a huge fan.

What a hypocrite Stern is. He berates Jackie for wanting more work and says nothing about that fat bloated overpaid guinea that is always a 50-50 no show for work each day. That’s how you can tell he no longer cares about the show that bears his name. It’s over folks and it is probably time for the show to end. It’s best days are behind it.
At least Artie is funny. Jackie blows. But yeah, Artie not being able to make a 4 day work week is pretty lame.
Let’s face it. Until Howard, Sirius, and all the other pussies over there actually fire him, Artie will continue to shit all over them. There is no incentive for him to change his behavior as long as he still has a job, and can still use the show to promote his career.
I’m sick of all his bullshit excuses for not doing the right thing and could care less how hard it is for him. Get a REAL job, then we’ll see how hard it really is. Loser.

I never looked at it that way.
Artie was practically comatose last week. Whenever he talked it sounded like he would keel over any second he seemed so tired.
Here’s the deal, Artie needs to go to rehab, take a break, work out and get himself right. He needs to do it with a professional organization/trainer and not devise his own “program”. Its not like he can’t afford it and really, it would be like an investment in his career to get himself right.
The way he keeps referencing other celebrities (Miles Davis, Belushi, Farley) battles with drugs, I don’t think he’ll be happy until he craps out just like them. Its like he reveres their drug stories or something.
I get bummed when Artie isn’t on the show just like everyone else..but really why get so worked up?…he’s out, so what? it’s not like you’re paying his salary directly (ok, I understand subscribers have an argument) or he’s an employee of yours. But really, why the anger…I liked Jackie during his day…with the crazy laughs and such..but Artie brings something different..and it’s great for the show…believe me I get tired hearing about Howard’s saggy ass, and wondering what Beth sees in him (BORING!) than hearing about Arite not being in. c’mon man…peace and love..PEACE AND LOVE!

I think Artie is totally clean now.
But now he is dealing with the depression (and reality of trying to beat it without drugs), and when you work A LOT and keep insane hours, you break down.
I know, I’m a depressed, bipolar, OCD, overly medicated mess, and I keep the same hours as the show. Its no fucking joke.
Artie will come out of it, but its LONG term, expect more days like this.
You know what really pisses me off?
This happened before. He had a gig, he came in 10 fucking days later and talked about it and said that the road is killin him and he needed to cancel the tour and just get his head together.
So – we all felt for him, we wanted him to get better, cancel the dates, and get healthy instead of going on the road.
So what does Art do? He cancels the Rochester show. The one that I had great tickets to. JUST that show. He’s fulfilled all other dates but fucks everyone going to that show (just cancelled, not postponed) and then continues on the road which clearly isnt a good idea, but if he’s going to do it anyway, why did JUST that show get cancelled? It’s a pretty big slap in the face. I felt bad and was understanding of his situation when he said he had to cancel all the shows- but when it ended up JUST being that one that was pretty lame of him. Plus this just proves he really shouldnt be on the road.
Anyone think this is going to turn into him being off up until the holiday vacation? When does that start…is it next week already or do they have this week and next week then off til next year?
I sure hope he shows tomorrow. I love the guy, he’s so important to the show. The roll call today wasnt as funny without him…but this is really starting to become bullshit. As if the shows vacation days off arent enough, he just calls in to a job where he sits in a fucking chair and talks for 5 hours….really Artie, that’s too much for ya? Get your ass to work, then go home and take a nap…I know some pretty depressed people, who have tried to kill themselves….they work shitty jobs and go to them and hate life…then you have Artie who blames depression and can’t go to a job where the only thing he has to do is sit down and do some talking
Artie is back on Heroin. Look at HTV from last week. He looks awful.
Cocaine summer-Artie looked great, but was just not funny. Heroin Artie is funny, when he’s at work and awake.
As a fan, I’ve learned to accept that he will miss some days here and there.
While I get p(*&(ed at Artie, I can’t help but thinking it is more than just the drugs. I think the depression thing is real with him and his family really needs to step in. enough is enough or he will likely be the next comedic statistic of od’ing.
I was thinking of my old stomping ground when I found out Artie was not on today…Glad I stopped by! What surprises me is that Howard still puts up with this, but I guess they are so close to leaving Sirius that he doesnt care.
That started me thinking, if the ‘Sirius Experience’ was as successful as Howard would have us believe, there would be a HUGE scramble to keep the show together in some form even after Howard leaves in a year or so. He chides Jay Leno for jumping ship to do his own thing and yet if Howard went somewhere else for a show (wich will happen, he will be back on regular radio after Sirius is done) it would be the exact same thing. Of course when Howard goes back to regular radio, he will claim to be ’saving terrestrial radio’! LOL. I doubt he will bring Artie with him because Artie doesnt work clean [well] and the history of his work ethic will sour the deal as well.
Sadly, this is the last gasp of Howard Stern and instead of embracing Sirius’s ‘FCC FREE’ attitude, he is playing it so safe to not have any lawsuits after he retires with his nest egg.
Its funny, Gary let it slip when they were arguing today and it confirmed my thoughts…Gary said to Howard that ‘you’ pay their salaries and Howard immediately said it was Sirius that did it. I had the feeling that Howard got that 500 million dollars and basically footed the bill for the entire show with it, whatever was leftover was Howards to keep…
