Artie will no longer be taking part in the What’s So Funny with Joe Matarese and Matt Bellace at Comix Comedy Club in New York this Thursday. This has been confirmed by the show’s producer. Artie’s replacement will be none other than Jim Florentine!

Originally the show was supposed to be taped for Howard TV. So does this mean Artie is finally getting some help?
I think arite finally figured out that it MIGHT look bad if he skips the whole week of stern shows and does all his comedy gigs on the side.. i never understood how howard let that slide in the past. im glad the fat hack finally got some integrity and cut it out…

As for Artie, I hope and pray that you get yourself straight. I would hate to see you throw your life away. You are a good soul as well as a talented person. @ Willie – Yeah we’ve heard about a million times already about how hard life is for Artie and/or anyone with addiction. So I guess WE – the non-addicts – have to put up silently with the bullshit and the lying and stories and the no-shows for exactly how long? We’re not allowed to be pissed when someone we once cheered for, does a complete 180 and sabotages himself?
Face it, it’s a cold fucking world brother, and frankly anyone who CHOOSES heroin, or alcohol, or gambling over LIFE – well, I do not feel sorry for them. Because before it was an addiction it was a choice.

Can’t believe people would pay to see Artie live. I always thought he was one of the worst roasters when they did the roast shows. His jokes sucked.
I hope Artie is in an actual rehab getting the help he needs. He did that spa thing last year and didn’t even stay the full week and ended up in a hotel in Miami. That isn’t how you get clean if your serious about kicking the H. Then he whined that he didn’t want to do a REAL rehab where you room with someone else and scrub floors. Boo Hoo. Your a junkie and if you want to get clean it isn’t going to be on your terms. You’ll have to work out of your comfort zone and suffer a little to make it happen. Unless that is happening now, then its just another wasted Artie gesture and we can expect more vanishing acts, lies, and nonsense in the coming year.
I called the show Monday during the Artie discussions to let them know Artie was still scheduled for Comix…didn’t get through but spoke to Will, he said he didn’t think Arite would be doing the show because that’s the night of the Christmas Dinner.
Actually I spoke to Joe Matarese, he didn’t say that was an issue. Artie was going to leave from the party to the club
i think the bottom line is we love the show, and we all want the show to be great, and this stuff starts to drag it down….i don’t think anyone would truly wish Artie ill, just for him to get out get better and let the show move in with him or without him….yeah, he’s a funny bastard and yes, when he is ON and IS awesome, but it’s the times in-between that i think we all get bummed out about………
If the show is good with or without him, why does it matter if he isnt in? Its not like Howard talks about it much, so why should the haters care?
It sucks he hasnt been fired yet. What he offers to the show could be EASILY replaced.

@ Artiefan, going with your logic if the show is good with or without him, then why do they need him at all?? Howard has always said the show is to help the poor schlubs stuck in their cars laugh a little bit during their morning commute. While I love Artie on the show, it stopped being funny watching someone self destruct a long time ago. There is this big purple elephant in the room (no pun intended) when Artie is absent, that is no longer discussed. Its a downer.
With my logic, it doesn’t matter either way. Point is, Howard is staying with him, so it doesn’t matter what any of us think .
Since Arties been out, Fred’s been louder than ever and extremely funny. His big foot stuff yesterday and cougar contest today.
I think it’s a silver lining if I had to find one.
My favorite part about Artie is when he calls people homos, fags and pussies, then doesn’t show up to work, cries at the edge of his bed, has his mommy pay his bills, feels so poorly about himself that he hides under his covers for days at a time.
I mean this guy is all man, a mans man…..

Did you notice near the end of the show today, Howard mentioned Artie’s loyalty was to his stand up shows and the Stern show was just to promote them. Then Robin stepped all over him as usual and he moved on.
