Howard finally talks to Artie

In the first half hour of the show, Artie was discussed. Howard said that he finally got to talk to Artie via phone over the weekend. Gary and Fred went and visited him together. Robin said she had visited him as well. They didn’t give any details on him, just that it was tough talking with him because none of them really knew what to say.

  1. Goodbye Clones says:

Artie is in a mental hospital?

  2. artiefan says:

There are no details about where Artie is.

  3. Goodbye Clones says:

Sounds like he’s either in a mental clinic or a rehab, Matt.

  4. artiefan says:

Thats fine but we aren’t speculating here.

  5. I love Artie's heart says:

Dont’ know what to say? Howard could have started by explaining why he failed to reach out until late last week. Some bro he is…..

  6. Fink says:

Man, that would be a tough situation to be in. I wouldn’t know what to say either. “So… uh, how you been?” I mean, seriously.

    Get well soon, Artie!

  7. Captain Japan says:

Baba Booey can’t keep anything secret. He revealed details about Artie this morning.

  8. miter benesdurty? says:

If Howard didn’t know what to say, then it just further proves what a complete weirdo he is. However, I get the vibe that he may just be saying that on the air, so that he doesn’t have to discuss his private conversation any further. The truth on the HSS is a scarce commodity these days.

  9. Mike says:

I can understand Howard and everyone else being at a loss over what to say to him, but it took Howard this long to reach out to Artie?? (and a phone call at that).

  10. HackPack says:

any signs of TWA TWA TWATTER? …………………………….crickets………………….

  11. Nicole says:

    Everyone’s the armchair quarterback….

  12. beetleisasbadascan says:

    What did gary reveal?

  13. Niemand says:

Miter is correct about the “truth” and HSS but in this instance it rings true! He doesn’t know what to say because it doesn’t make good radio!

    Nicole,
It’s NOT about anyone armchair quarterbacking anything….

But it IS a legit question that should be asked…..

I mean, he did make a point of saying he was his “bro”

Is that how one treats his bro? Maybe from where HS sits but in the real world it’s how one treats an acquaintance they happen to work with! NOT a Bro!! And calls into question HS’s character.

But then again, HS was Sam K’s “bro” and we know how real that was!!

    Jah Bless Artie Lange!

    May Shiva protect him!!

  14. Nicole says:

We have no clue what goes on w/him and Artie… HS may have visited him everyday since and just says he hasn’t. I’m sure it’s not easy to talk about and who knows… maybe Artie doesn’t want to see him.

    Why point fingers?!

  15. Bob Levi says:

Don’t you people have anything better to do than sit on a message board and speculate what happens on the HSS? Wow, losers.

I’ll be at Carolines February 15-16. Come on out for real entertainment!

  16. laura palmer says:

    bob levi?

  17. HackPack says:

Sad thing is your an imposter of Bob Levy of all people, even if you were the real Bob Levy nobody would care to talk to you or pay money to see you

  18. HackPack says:

good point laura, the imposter doesnt even know how to spell the name of the guy he is pretending to be

  19. Bob Levi says:

I’d pay to see Artie stab himself.

  20. Pete says:

Leave Artie and Howard alone…this is a tough thing to go through….PISS OFF

  21. laura palmer says:

wow, this comedian/brand of jeans is really hateful. please go away

  22. Bob Levi Jeans says:

“this is a tough thing to go through”

Quit acting like you know Artie personally. Just because you hear him on the radio doesn’t mean squat. GET A LIFE! If you stabbed yourself do you think Artie or Howard would give a fork? NO.

  23. World Of Johnboy says:

Just an FYI, I was where Artie was about 10 years ago (attempted suicide). My friends and loved ones reacted almost identically to Howard and the rest of the Stern show cast/crew. It’s a difficult situation to tackle because you are at a loss for words. I know that many of you don’t know what it’s like to go through this, and can only hope you never will.

  24. Alpharaider says:

Go to SFN and be a hateful prick. They like your kind on that site.

  25. laura palmer says:

indeed they do. they may even appreciate that douchey name

  26. Bob Levi Jeans says:

Laura, don’t get your granny panties in a bunch.

  27. Nicole says:

@ World Of Johnboy – thank you and glad you’ve come through it!

  28. laura palmer says:

suck it, “bob.” we don’t like your kind around here.
and i’m not wearing any panties, you chooch

  29. Bob Levi Jeans says:

    Tramp.

  30. Jeff says:

Laura, I hate this Bob Levi too.

Could you attach a pic please?

  31. laura palmer says:

can’t–i’m at work!! some stern fan this “levi” is. hater of pantiless girls? that just doesn’t jive!

  32. Bob Levi Jeans says:

Jeff, Laura is Maryann from Brooklyn’s illegitimate tard daughter.

  33. Bob Levi Jeans says:

    Work = corner of 32nd and 5th?

  34. laura palmer says:

nope, i’m your father’s illegitimate daughter. didn’t know he had another family? that’s sad. no wonder you are so hateful and angry!

  35. Bob Levi Jeans says:

    Wow, what a lame comeback.

  36. Bob Levi Pissed Jeans says:

And even though your my long lost sister, I’ll still bang your pimply puss.

  37. laura palmer says:

not nearly as lame as your existence, your comments or your stupid name. why waste good comebacks on unfunny “insults?”

  38. laura palmer says:

you’d never get near me, you creep. enjoy your discourse with me on this thread–that’s as close as you’ll never get. or probably as close to any woman you’ll get

  39. Bob Levi Pissed Jeans says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  40. laura palmer says:

there you go. most intelligent thing you’ve said. goodbye now. you bore me

  41. Bob Levi Pissed Jeans says:

but you keep coming back for more? i know you’re dripping wet thinking of my big rod spewing all over your butterface.

  42. Sal Monella says:

Lesson. Ignore the idiot posters. They feed off any attention. Ignore them and they go away.

  43. SternFan1996 says:

    Sal is right.

  44. Alpharaider says:

    Good lord-grow the fuck up.

  45. laura palmer says:

just standing up for myself guys. sorry but this guy is a creep

  46. Niemand says:

Nicole P… Said “We have no clue what goes on w/him and Artie… HS may have visited him everyday since and just says he hasn’t. I’m sure it’s not easy to talk about and who knows… maybe Artie doesn’t want to see him.
    Why point fingers?!”

You appear to be a sane and compassionate individual but really? Please, lets not bend over backwards to make HS appear normal. Take the cat thing with Beth as an example. HS LIVES for the radio. Everything is radio.

HS might have visited Artie everyday like he might have gone to Sam K’s funeral.

Stern is the master exploiter and Artie was his latest victim! I do NOT blame HS for Arties condition but I am NOT going to project compassion onto a compassion-less individual who can NOT express honesty and emotion (again, go back to the Beth thing) if there is not an open microphone in front of him!

He is an extremely talented individual (HS) but all the years of Therapy have done nothing to humanize him!

Point Fingers? No, just stating the obvious!

  47. GetBetterArtie says:

Niemand, thanks for getting back on topic.

I agree, unless it’s good for radio, I don’t think HS truly cares. He really keeps his personal life to himself which is fine, but don’t act like you care on the radio then do nothing about it off the radio.

  48. Fan of Steel says:

Did none of you listen closely to today’s show?? It sounded like HS had tried reaching out to Artie to no avail..for some time. Anybody consider that perhaps Artie wants nothing to do with the HSS or people (in general) right now?

HS is a caring dude. If you truly listen to his show you would know that. Radio genius — sometimes manipulater, yes — but WAY more caring than anyone else I see in show business.

    HS Rules!

  49. Niemand says:

GetBetter Artie makes a good point!

I am NOT talking about keeping things private. I agree, thats his right and his decision….

I’m saying that listening to HS over the years you can tell the shtick from the part that made him famous, the being “real”.
And Laura, you DO NOT need to defend yourself from a troll…. Listen to Sal…. Saying NOTHING to a troll is the only response that makes a point! And the point should be that you are so insignificant you don’t deserve a response….

I know sometimes that is difficult!! Stay Strong!

Artie Lange, get better SOON!!! I hope to hear your voice again soon but as someone else already stated, I would gladly never hear it again, if it meant you are alive, well, and relatively Demon Free!!!!

One last thing….. Is the new GF gone? Why did Mom find him and not her? I was away the week before it happened so I wonder i there was any 411

  50. laura palmer says:

does anyone really believe that “reaching out” by Howard would be accepted by Art? I can’t imagine that Howard, self-consumed or not, would just allow this to go on without “reaching out.” the unfortunate fact about addicts is that they often slap away the hands that reach out.

  51. laura palmer says:

thanks, Niemand. it can be tough being a chick on this site.

  52. GetBetterArtie says:

Radio genius, yes he is, but I get the feeling, and it’s just an assumption, that he’s cold in his personal life toward others on the show. I don’t blame him, he spills everything on the radio, but when that microphone turns off, I think he runs for zee hills. But I could be wrong.

  53. Fan of Steel says:

thank you Laura – totally agree.

  54. Fan of Steel says:

good point about the girlfriend thing tho…where has she gone?

  55. laura palmer says:

i mean, keepping in mind that Art was a huge Stern fan first… how things have worked out working for and with his idol. just adds to the embarrassment, which could just make everything worse.

  56. Nicole says:

Ok, fine… maybe I’m just naïve… I choose to the good in people and really believe HS does care… he just has a weird way of showing at times because he has to be the HS he thinks his fans wants to hear. Regardless of what he does or doesn’t do… i’m SURE he only wants the best for Artie as we all do.

  57. Fan of Steel says:

If HS got wrapped up in his co-workers..we all wouldn’t have a show to enjoy day after day…year after year. That is management. They all pretty much go their seperate ways after the show. Who hangs with their co-workers after hours – all the time? People who don’t have a life outside of work.

  58. GetBetterArtie says:

Hang in there Laura, don’t let idiots get under your skin. Obviously that dude is one angry mofo!!

I really hope Artie can finally get his life in order but I highly doubt he’ll be back on the show.

  59. Niemand says:

    FOS,
Yes, we considered it and rejected it!

Everybody else has contacted him!! End of Story!!

And seriously, you need to broaden your horizons if HS is WAY MORE CARING than anybody (forget everybody) you know in Show Biz….

Any quick manifestations of that caring come to mind? Wanna bet that off the top of my head I can come up with 2 examples of a soulless exploiter for each 1?

    Jah Bless Artie Lange!!

  60. Fan of Steel says:

I’ll bet we see Tiger back on the circuit before Artie returns……unfortunately.

  61. laura palmer says:

thanks GBA. i think at this point being off the show would be the best thing for him, as much as i love him on it.
i think it is important what Fan said, too. Howard isn’t going to happy hour with the other people on the show. he and art have very little in common outside of the show.

  62. Fan of Steel says:

    Niemand you sound bitter.

You think about all the scandal you hear about celebrities (ie. Rush, Tiger, Letterman…etc.).

HS ever do anything bad to Allison? Not that I’ve ever heard… Caring – 1 pt.

What about all the opportunities whackpackers get that normally would have none?? Yes, exploitive, but their choice. Caring 2 pts.

How about tattoo chick today? HS really tried hard to scribe a good one on her shoulder, right? 3 pts…

    9/11 broadcast 4 pts…

    List is endless..

  63. GetBetterArtie says:

Yea it’s unfortunate but this is the last straw for Artie. If he doesn’t get himself healthy, he’s really going to be in a dark place. I just hate to hear from people “what an idiot, he had everything, a great job, money, hot gf, etc…” People, it’s more than that, he has deep rooted issues that money, fame, etc.. can’t fix. He’s a hurt soul that I truly hope can get help.

    PEACE ARTIE!!!!

  64. Alpharaider says:

    Laura-not really. Just don’t act like a chick ;-)
Most folks new to the website have no clue I’m a female.

  65. Niemand says:

Okay, gotta run but just had to say I HOPE GetBetterArtie is WRONG!! No, I will PRAY that GetBetterArtie is COMPLETELY WRONG!!

But only about this point! “but I highly doubt he’ll be back on the show.”

And FOS…. No one is asking HS to get involved in ALL of his Co-Workers ALL of the time….

But IF you profess that you LOVE someone, if you profess that the person if your BRO, then common decent behavior dictates that YOU reach out! And IF Artie is feeling that he let HS down and feels bad that’s ALL the more reason to make a face to face visit!

COMPASSION should tell you that you MUST let it be known, face to face, that you DO INDEED LOVE this person like a BROTHER and want NOTHING more than for him to get better!!

If ANYONE ELSE on the show could make the time, HS could make the time, PERIOD!

But, you wanna know why he didn’t?? Watch the Hurt video and see what it takes for HS to feign compassion!! He had to WAVE Gary off, Gary who was MOVED by his OWN compassion for a fellow human!! and then pretend he cared…

HOW CAN ANYONE who sees that video NOT SEE the TRUTH!!

It’s great to hope and project but it’s HS we are speaking of here!!

    ARTIE LANGE IS LOVED!

  66. Long Time First Time says:

I can’t believe that some of you (and you know who you are) are actually questioning Howard’s actions with regard to contacting Artie since the suicide attempt. As far as speaking to him over the phone, Howard made it clear last week that he has been trying to reach out to him but he had been unable to actually speak to him. Based on what little we know, Artie is clearly in a rehab and/or psyche ward that is fairly hardcore. Even in low security programs, by definition, there are limits on who and when one can talk on the phone and/or have visitors. Heck, even on Dr. Drew’s (ridiculous) Celebrity Rehab, program rules calls for very limited and specific phone times and only short specific visits, both of which make it difficult to quickly get somebody on the phone.

As far as knowing what to say, each and every one of you who claims they would have no problems and no doubts about saying the right things in this kind of situation is full of SH*T!! Again, it is clear from what little we do know (particularly based on Howard and Gary’s statements today) that Artie is apparently still seriously depressed and also likely heavily medicated (typically, they put you on “zombie drugs” like thorazine or depakote after a suicide attempt), meaning he is not particularly talkative and, perhaps, not even particularly lucid. With that in mind and knowing that any number of statements and subjects (including things as simple as “how are you?”) could easily be unwelcome or misconstrued, WTF do you say!!?? I haven’t got a clue, and one would have to be a mind reader to truly know. Frankly, it would have been awesome if the Giants had made the playoffs and were still alive because THEN there would be a “safe” topic to talk about. Even with that, just the thought of making that kind of phone call to anybody makes me nauseous, and it should do the same to any rational person with half a brain and a fraction of soul.

As far as visiting goes, for better or worse (and no matter how much you hate him this is still fact), Howard IS an extremely famous and recognizable public figure. If he goes to visit Artie, he WILL be recognized, which WILL then be mentioned on TMZ, et. al., which means that the world will then know exactly where Artie is. At which point, the press/paps start stalking him and snapping “discrete” pictures of him as he literally fights for his life. …But, hey, at least Howard would have satisified a couple of obnoxious haters who are hugely in the minority, and that is more important than Artie’s life, right?

  67. GetBetterArtie says:

Believe you me, I hope I’m wrong too. I just don’t see how he can come back. I don’t think he’s a strong enough person to be able to come back and have some a-hole call in and make a joke about his suicide attempt. But who knows. Again, I hope he does come back stronger and badder than ever!

On a side note, I watched “Jack & Coke” last night and boy is that man funny!

  68. GetBetterArtie says:

Long Time First Time you make some good points. We’re all just speculating around here since obviously none of us know the truth.

  69. HackPack says:

anyone know where Artie’s sisters letter to Artiefan went? he appeared to have taken it down with no explanation why..he is eerily absent from own site

  70. Niemand says:

    FOS,

WOW!! Knock me down with a feather…. BITTER??

I think you are comparing apples and oranges….. I don’t know anything about how he treated Alison or the rest of what you mentioned….

Listen, I listen and enjoy Stern…. But back when he did what he did to Sam, I saw then, that there was no compassion, no soul there…..

What he does to the wack packers is exploit them, should we say that making Miss Howard Stern a goddess for her bad behavior was compassion? It was great Radio and TV!!

Again, just to clarify, I do NOT blame Stern for Artie, for Miss Howard Stern..

    I am NOT bitter!!

I just do not like PROJECTING qualities unto someone who has never shown those qualities…

I just do not prefer to think the BEST of someone when that have shown the opposite al the time!

And lastly, I try NOT to pull the wool over my eyes and say because I enjoy someone/something that it must have endearing qualities…..

I NEVER listened to WNBC(In that year time I would not be associated with ANYONE who listened to AM)

Ive been listening since the afternoon shift at Krock…. The ABSOLUTE best radio ended around 1990, when HS would have Sam and Gilbert stay around the whole show……

So I have been a fan of HS for a LONG TIME….. and I am MERELY expressing my opinion, again, formed after YEARS of listening!

    Far from BITTER!! Though…

    Peace

    GET WELL ARTIE

  71. Fan of Steel says:

thank you LTFT..finally some shared reason.

Niemand wrote: And IF Artie is feeling that he let HS down and feels bad that’s ALL the more reason to make a face to face visit!

Niemand, have you visited Artie…Are you in his head? You seem to know just what he’s thinking and feeling.

Judge not..and ye shall not be judged.

  72. Blue Iris' Vagina says:

Howard just kind of said in a nutshell what everyone is speculating on. He and Artie are CO-WORKERS, not life long friends. Perception is always different than reality, Artie is not Howard’s responsibility. I am sure Howard is affected like any of us would be, but goddamn its not like the five of them leave the show and live in the same house, shop together, etc. c’mon people; Howard does not deserve the negative shit about Artie.

  73. Fan of Steel says:

Niemand I respect your long time listening. Obviously if we’re both wasting our time on this thread, we are both long time fans. And maybe we’re both guilty of reading into things.

But I disagree that HS “never” has shown compassion. I hear it all the time – listen daily for many, many years.

  74. Niemand says:

    LTFT,
    You make good points….

BUT you miss the point! HS can visit Artie… RQ has….

What you stated is a group of rationalizations, as valid as they are!

When your brother is hurting they mean NOTHING!!

I am NOT going by TODAYS broadcast!

Robin had spoken to Artie while HS was still saying he didn’t know HOW TO!!

And this was a WHILE ago!!

So, its nice to make excuses and defend the KOAM, but I thought this was an Artie Lange page and I did NOT know that unconditional love for him was required!

LISTEN and speculate is my game…. but speculation of fact, on past behaviors, on current behaviors (and AGAIN, that Beth cat thing should also SCREAM that maybe the defenders are reaching a little too far!)

After all, his SHRINK knows him BEST and his shrink says that he needs MORE WORK!! (In fact, if he trys to make it less work his shrink would end it!)

WHO AM I to argue with a person who knows the deepest darkest HS??

NoOne, thats who…. asnd as we all know, Niemand is Dutch for NoOne!

    Peace!

  75. Niemand says:

    FOS,
    Last time…. I gotta run…

Yes, I agree 100% with your last statement!!

I am sorry I said NEVER!!!

    That was wrong!!

Take care, all…. Those who pray, Pray for Artie, those who don’t, Think of Artie when he made you laugh!

Im glad I found this place! Peace

    Jah Bless Artie Lange

  76. GetBetterArtie says:

    Jah Bless Artie Lange indeed!

  77. Fan of Steel says:

Jah Bless Artie Lange..I’m with ya..!

  78. GetBetterArtie says:

Ha finally something we all can agree on!

  79. Black, Gay & Handicapped says:

Artie is an unfunny, racist, homophobic, misanthrope. the deader he gets, the better the world will be.

  80. Goodbye Clones says:

first time long time hits it perfectly.
It’s obvious that the last thing they (Artie’s camp) want right now is for people to know exactly where Artie is. All of the staff there are on lockdown. There would be nothing more difficult to conceal than why a 6′5″ long-haired person who looks exactly like Howard Stern is visiting that facility. And to the person who said that RQ has visited…comparing Howard’s fame to her fame is like comparing Howard’s career to Bubba’s. No offense to Bubba, of course.

  81. GetBetterArtie says:

Black, Gay & Handicapped, got some issues huh pal? Instead of being on this site, there are plenty of self help sites to choose from.

  82. artiefan says:

Sorry about the Bob Levi guy or whoever the fuck. I was at a funeral this morning for my grandfather and I come back to this shit?

Bob is banned. We won’t have to worry bout him no more.

@hackpack – Just goes to show how conspiractal you all are. .. and I’ve addressed the letter thing before.

  83. is anybody out there says:

Lots of valid points made by many people. In my mind this is a tragic event whether it be Artie or just an everyday guy that isn’t know nationally. I don’t think there is a “right” or “wrong” well to handle tragedy or grief. Everyone handles it in the way that they know how.

I hope Artie finds what he needs to be at peace, and pray that those closest to him are able to recover from the shock of all this as well.

  84. Nicole says:

@is anybody out there – Well put!

  85. HackPack says:

the question is, IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?

  86. is anybody out there says:

@ Nicole, thanks. Of course after reading what I typed it’s clear I should have done a quick review. Glad you could translate the typo’s.

  87. laura palmer says:

man, matt–so sorry to hear about your grandfather. you have had such a tough month or so. i wish you and your family the best. take good care.

  88. Bernadette says:

LTFT, I agree with what you said, as well as “is anybody out there”. And I definitely agree that HS going to visit is much more visible than anyone else on the show. We aren’t in their world, so we really don’t know anything other than the few snippets of info they have shared.
    Matt, sorry for your loss.

  89. Alpharaider says:

Hack if you go back and read the last thread AF addresses exactly why he took Stacy’s letter down.

What’s with the asshats suddenly showing up? Again, the crowd over at SFN is more suited to your kind of bullshit. Take your stick and go stir crap there.

  90. IloveBlackWang says:

Damn Matt, U need to catch a break sooner or later. Obviously we don’t know you, but all of this ” Howard should do this or Howard should do that” bullshit doesn’t mean much when life is put into perspective. I’m sorry for your loss, and hope you and your family have a much better year.

Laura, keep in mind that “Bob Levi” guy was probably a 15 yr old punk.. don’t let him get to you… now about that pic you were going to attach :)

Everyone can go back and forth about what Howard should do, but the bottom line is we really have NO idea what he really has or hasn’t done. We hear him on the radio, and hear ONLY what he wants us to hear.
Remember if it was up to him, none of this would have came out on the air.

On a lighter note, how do we get Matt & Gerry together to run Howard’s site?

  91. Artie's Last Drink says:

So very sorry about your grandfather Matt. My condolences to you and your family

  92. Jeff from NJ says:

Let’s get back to some details that were given on today’s show. First, nobody really wants to say where Artie is, which on it’s own implies there’s a stigma to it. You had Howard this morning saying he asked Artie if any hot chicks were there, to which Robin replied “Yeah, those crazy chicks are great”, or something very close to that. For me, that not only spoke volumes, but was basically an announcement as to what’s going on. It’s really not speculating when someone who’s been there announces something, but I’ll let you use your imagination rather than saying it. Then you have Fred, who said “It’s not like there were posters on the wall to look at” referencing how bare and stark the surroundings were. You can then add to it Artie’s own comment to Howard about how “this isn’t the kind of place” he should be visiting. We’ve all been given some major dots, you just have to connect them. Actually, I wouldn’t doubt that someone from the show just comes out and specifically says what form of treatment he’s getting and where he is fairly soon as they truly have no ability to watch how they speak.

  93. Supercody says:

Who cares where he is as long as he’s getting better , Let the big guy rest , He’ll be back better than ever I can feel it ,

  94. Sal Monella says:

Check out the end of Jack and Coke. Very eery and confusing. He seems happy to be alive and thanks the people closest to him that got him off drugs. Maybe it was his way to say goodbye to everyone.

  95. Alpharaider says:

I caught all of that too, Jeff. Once those words are release like a flock of doves outa your mouth ya can’t put ‘em back. I didn’t listen to the Wrap Up Show-did they bring it up?

  96. Rat Fink says:

I miss that fat fucker. I hope he comes back to the show with some wild stories about how he fell off the wagon and went nuts.

COME BACK ARTIE you fat fucking asshole.

  97. Nicole says:

@ Jeff from NJ – No way… no one will come out and say where he is unless it’s Artie himself… as they stated in the very beginning… it’s between him and his family.

  98. Nicole says:

Ok, scratch that… i didn’t read your entire sentence! You may have a point there, but, i’d say that’s why they choose to say nothing at all!

@ sal – Good point, I also noticed artie thanking his mom and sis for saving his life on jack and coke. I found that a bit ominous as he said that because little did anyone know what was lurking around the corner.

Agree with all who stated today that it doesn’t matter where chunky is as long as he’s getting help. But, he probably hates where he is, and had very little to no choice in the matter.

Finally – damn I wish Howard would go on Conan and let Jay really have it. Jay Leno and NBC are pulling off the biggest dick move on TV of all time!!

  100. Jeff from NJ says:

I missed the wrap up show today. Did anybody catch it? Any more Artie details?

  101. Darek in OrLangedo says:

This is all they had on marksfriggin re: Artie on the wrap up show…Gary said that Artie is in a place that he needs to be in right now and it’s not easy to get a hold of him on the phone. He said that it’s a hard time for the guy right now.

  102. Exotika says:

I am a big fan of the HSS and am hoping Artie pulls it together. It seems he has his father with him at all times pulling for him. I actually have a big crush on him………he needs lots of love and hugies!!

  103. srg says:

I have listened to Howard for many many years. I am quite sure that if he did have any substantial conversation with Artie he would not discuss the contents on the radio at this time. This way he got it out there that they did talk and it kind of ends the questions about what was discussed.

  104. Cee says:

    @laura palmer
you sure spend a lot of your time at work blogging and endlessly fighting with people with an equal amount of spare time. i would love to know what your boss would think about you spending 9am-2pm work hours on a site entitled “save baby gorilla”.

    get well art.

  105. Alpharaider says:

Hmmm-Cee. You’re assuming Laura works FOR someone. Maybe she’s her own boss.

You must have some time on your hands to single out one persons’ posts while there are several of us who post on this site-some who post quite lengthy items……I’m just sayin’…..

    One question-why do you care?

  106. artiefan says:

i love how people criticize and then throw in a “get well” message so i don’t delete it.

  107. I Don't Dance says:

    get well baby gorilla….

  108. Tamara Leigh says:

i think it is impossible to judge how these people are dealing with this situation based on what is being said on the show. obviously howard is respectful of artie’s privacy, i’ve sensed that in every conversation he’s had since this happened. i feel certain howard and everyone who cares about artie is standing behind him 100% and doing the best they can to convey that TO ARTIE. the show is the show. i only wish them the best, Artie is my favorite and i remember meeting him in vegas 2004 at the Rhino. what a super nice guy, even let us take a picture. i think back to that report of your death at the hardrock and it makes me sick. My heart skipped a beat when i saw this on the news. took a few days to realise it was for real. i can hear it in everyone’s voice, it is much too real. My heart goes out to Artie and his family. i think about it every day first thing and every night last thing. crazy huh… i don’t even know this person yet i relate to him so much and i would love to know him….hang in there artie you still have grandchildren to create…God Grant Me The Serenity…..

  109. Adam says:

Gary spilled the beans b/c he said, “Do you get much news IN HERE?” in reference to the Giants being out of superbowl contention.
Also, Howard said, “Artie, any hot girls at that place?”
Fred said, “It’s not like there are posters on the wall to look at.”
    Artie’s at an in-patient facility.

  110. marna says:

I think Howard Stern is no one’s friend but his own! He actually had the nerve to say that off the air him and Artie are awkward and not really friends. What happened to how much he and Artie are friends and how much he loves Artie? And to turn his conversation he had with Artie into a joke on the air? He is cold! Artie is sick! He is suffering from depression and he is not going to be all laughs and talkative and funny just because “KING” Howard does him a favor and calls him! How soon now before he replaces Artie? That’s showing your love for your “bro” huh Howard?

  111. PghPete says:

    another classic call

  112. Lawrence says:

Apparently, the Universe chose Artie as a vessel of prophecy. In 2008, he NAILED it on Late Night w/Conan O’Brien.

    Watch the entire clip. Amazing.

  113. Sal Monella says:

Artie is not a prophet. We all knew this would happen except Conan. Poor guy.

  114. artiefan says:

Whats your point Sal? You are linking to a thread that was months ago before all this. Stuff was said in a different light. Even many of my posts.

  115. Blue Iris' Vagina says:

Marna, and others. WHy are you guys so consumed with whether or not Howard and Artie are friends off the air? He said years ago, around the time of one of those Artie explosions, that they are not terribly close off the air. Howard is not Artie’s keeper, last anyone checked he is 42 years old, while a tremendously tragic situation for him, it is not Howard’s responsibility- and I respect Howard being honest about that.

  116. Linda says:

Of course Artie is not at home and in a facility… Everyone who attempts suicide and fails will serve hospital time. For instance he could be sectioned under the mental health act and could spend a significant amount of time in hospital. He will only be released when the psychiatrist believes that he is no longer a harm to himself or others.

LONG TIME FIRST TIME: THANK YOU! WELL SAID. SOME OF THESE MORONS THAT HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THERE LIVES MAKE ME SICK. I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU AND RE-PRINT YOUR POINT. THANKS AGAIN TO MATT FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ARTIE AND HIS FAMILY. AGAIN, THIS IS ABOUT ARTIE AND NOT THE FANS.
PEACE AND LOVE PEACE AND LOVE…..

  119. Sal Monella says:

Artiefan, I was just trying to make a link between her moving in and with what happened but in reality none of us know and don’t deserve to know in this private matter.

  120. Joe says:

I’ve been in a similar situation as Howard. I have a friend and he slit his own throat and stabbed himself in the neck 3 times. He survived, & me and another buddy went to see him about a week later in the hospital and it was the most uncomfortable, awkward situation I’ve ever been in. You want to say something to make him feel better, but I mean it was like looking into the eyes of a statue and speaking to a wall. No emotions, one word responses, it’s tough man. You also have to hold back some anger that you have, like “what the fuck were you thinking?” I hope Artie gets the help that he needs and can recover from this situation.

  121. Sal Monella says:

From second hand experience with attempted suicide, they put you on strong medication to keep you from thinking about doing it again. The person is beyond lethargic and seems like they don’t understand what you are saying.

  122. I Hate Medicated Pete says:

I feel HS just did not want to jump down Artie’s throat until maybe Artie was ready to talk. If I was Artie I might be a bit reluctant to speak to HS…what can Artie say besides “Look man, I’m sorry..” and what can HS say but “No need to be sorry, just get better” Maybe HS feels that rushing off and calling Artie right away might put pressure on Artie to have to deal with things he may not be ready to deal with…like his role on the show. Artie may have requested that HS back off until he is ready to talk. Then again, what the hell do I know…just an opinion.

@Laura Palmer I am a Stern Fan that doesn’t care about pantiless girls and it jives just fine…of course I happen to be a Gay Stern fan…yes we do exsist and no I don’t want to bang anyone on the show…..although I wouldn’t kick Jared’s rat ass out of bed =)

  125. miter benesdurty? says:

All this “weirdness” relating to Artie pretty much guarantees he won’t be back any time soon.

Then again, we don’t know if he wants to come back or whether Sirius wants him back. And I’m not saying that to start any shit. I’m just saying we don’t know.

  126. Angela says:

Someone very close to me was in a place when he was suicidal. I visited twice a day… The person close to me was angry, ashamed, hurting physically, emotionally….was hopped on too many medications by the doctors there. All I wanted to do was hug and comfort him, but he was aloof…and anxious for me to leave. Heartbreaking for me and for him…especially him.

  130. Brian G says:

I miss Artie… Guess who the jew was fun though… I could use some more Artie (sal) phone-in’s.

  131. fan says:

A question for anyone who listened to today’s show pls. I copied a sentence from Marksfriggin’s below. Could someone tell me if HS’s tone sounded as harsh as it reads. I hope not but I am really curious. Thanks.

” Howard said he’s not even sure if Artie is going to come back to the planet, never mind the show. He said that Robin’s answer was good since they really have no idea if or when he’d come back.

  132. big dog says:

artie is the least entertaining person ever on the radio, the crap that is his film work is only overshadowed by the insanely unfunny comedy routines that he performs. Too bad for the guy but he should not be on the stern show, one talentless fat fuck. Godfather quotes and the same longshorman stories, genius.

  133. mandy says:

Howard is one of the most loyal friends around. (Take a look at that loser Ralph.) Just because Howard SAID he didn’t know what to say to Artie doesn’t mean he really didn’t know what to say. It probably means he doesn’t want to publicize it, so before you go bashing Howard about something about which you know nothing, think.

Howard was hilarious last week when he was saying he’s going to open the conversation with Artie complaining about how crappy Howard’s life is. LOL

Big dog, I have a feeling you’re not familiar with and wouldn’t quite recognize genius if you heard it.

  134. mandy says:

fan says, I heard that: “Howard said he’s not even sure if Artie is going to come back to the planet, never mind the show. He said that Robin’s answer was good since they really have no idea if or when he’d come back.”

It wasn’t said harshly at all. He was emphasizing the point that that was a very difficult question to answer.

  135. Jeff says:

I have been listening to the show less and less since the last Artie incident. It’s just not as funny and I find myself feeling annoyed with Howard over my perception of how he has handled this situation. It’s always easy for someone like me that doesn’t “know” any of the parties involved in a situation to sit back and say “Oh you should do this or that”, BUT the fact that Howard hasn’t SEEN him once and on-air makes it sound like it was such a hassle for him to even chat with him on the phone for a minute………It just really turns me off to Howard Stern. Everyone has there own ways of grieving and dealing with stressful situations but I really think Howard is just a remarkably self-centered individual even in such a time of crisis for a person he has claimed to be a “bro” to and have such a kinship with. I also get the impression that people such as Robin, Fred, and Gary don’t understand Howard’s stance right now but of course they never challenge him on anything….I don’t know… I just feel like even if Howard re-ups with Sirius, my days as an avid Stern listener may be dwindling, its just not a fun time listening anymore its more sad than anything…

  136. mandy says:

I don’t know what’s up Howard’s arse, but there’s either his marriage is in trouble or he’s seriously unhappy about Artie and having to replace him, because Howard is cranky as hell! So cranky he’s not funny when he’s doing it.

I’m already on the fence about keeping Sirius without Artie, but if Howard keeps being so annoying, it’s not good for the show. He’s like a cranky old man and without Artie there to keep him in good spirits, what’s the point?

ARTIE NEEDS TO COME BACK AND SAVE THE SHOW!

Jeff, to play devil’s advocate, Howard may be helping Artie in ways we don’t know. He’s not heartless, just self-absorbed in the extreme. That’s why he’s Howard!

  137. Tracy says:

This is the genius of Howard: As far as Howard’s interaction with Artie…you are possibly confusing real life with what’s on the air. Howard is a genius. What he chooses to reveal on the show is deliberely crafted. And what he chooses to leave out is also crafted, based on what he believes is best for whatever wise reasons … either personal reasons or sometimes for the best purposes of the show. Ditto for every word uttered on the show about everything, and especially about Artie.

  138. Howard's a Coward says:

Howard needs to visit Artie in person!!! As difficult as it would for Howard to see Artie, think of how difficult it must be for Artie. Artie was right, Howard is no BRO!!!!!

The truth doesn’t change, whether the majority believes or does not believe it!
