Re-Mission Statement

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Over the years, SBG has stood as a place to celebrate Artie’s successes and follow his struggles. Many times we have poked fun at his expense, but it was always done (on my part) out of love and in the spirit of the Howard Stern Show.

We have always enjoyed a small, rotating group of regular posters. Some were Artie fans and others who were haters, the stereotypical SFN types who can’t say many positive things and leaves you puzzled to why they even listen.

Obviously over the past month, we have experienced an increase in activity here and it has been difficult to moderate the website. For the most part, I have always allowed people to say what they want, in reason, and as long as they weren’t trying to pick arguments. I have only had to ban a few people since the website started.

Recently, with the sensitivity of Artie’s current health status, I have gone to extreme measures to filter any offensive, off-topic and speculative comments which people have left. With respect to the family’s wishes and to Artie’s sanity (and maybe add in my own family struggles), I will continue to do so. Frankly, this is my blog and I can decide what gets put on here and how I want it represented. I would like this blog to be a place of support, that is why it is called “SAVE” Baby Gorilla. Right now, I am so committed to the “saving” part, that I can see a point where it is time to end the site for Artie’s sake.

We can still have fun and express opinions but if you are gonna talk about off-topic stuff, be overly offensive, overly speculative, troll or just try to stir the pot, you will find no place here. For those wishing to discuss all other areas of the show, I run another blog called DailyStern.com, part of the STERNiverse.com. Feel free to go there and be as annoying as you want, again, in reason. I do not regulate that site as I do here.

For the true Artie fans who have recently participated in a loving way, I applaud your maturity, spirit and sympathy.

Been Away

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Sorry it’s been quiet on my end (not that any of you need encouragement). I meant to put up the Xmas design and update banners.

My father passed away on Christmas Eve. We just returned from the South today preparing to bury my Dad.

If you are curious, I haven’t gone on any heroin/alcohol/gambling binges.

Hope all your holidays are good.

Happy Halloween!

SBG on Super Fan Roundtable tonight

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

If you are looking for some Stern-related radio tonight, check out Super Fan Roundtable on Howard101 at 7pm. I will be in studio and on the radio (not just “sitting in”).

Updated

I had a blast doing the show and will definitely be doing it again. Mutt, Sean and Robby were great to hang out with (in studio and at the bar afterwards). Thanks to Jason Kaplan for the studio tour. Getting to see the Gary Puppet, Jackie Puppet, the Sybian, the Wheel of Sex and Gary’s Sybian headgear was awesome. I was also fortunate enough this time to see Scott Ferrall and Mad Dog Chris Russo while waiting in the lobby. Also saw Madison (Jay Thomas Show) afterwards.

And you might be able to guess what this next photo is: Artie’s favorite vending machine.

Sirius Experience

Matt of SBG at Sirius infront of the Howard first

There have been many perks over the years as a result of running this website, however, my favorite experience happened this past Thursday. Before then, I have been complimented by Howard and crew on a video I made, had that video open one of Artie’s shows, was given free tickets to a couple of Artie’s stand-ups with backstage passes, met Artie a few times, received a handwritten letter from him and received some cool promotional items but that is nothing compared to actually experiencing part of the Howard Stern show.

How did it happen?

A couple months ago, Artie had invited me to a Yankees game with him. After a couple weeks of communication, we had never settled on a date. Artie called me up last Tuesday and said that he had set aside his season tickets for me. Unfortunately, he would not be able to make it. I was a little bummed, but really, what are we going to talk about for 3 hours? Then he asked me if I wanted to come down to the studio to pick them up and that I could sit in on the Wrap Up Show. Not going to the game with him didn’t really matter to me after being invited to Sirius, knowing that I would be sitting in the same room as Baba Booey, Jon Hein and whoever else might show up during a live show! Artie then put me in touch with his assistant at the moment, his sister Stacey .She made sure all the arrangements were taken care.

SBG on Sirius

Monday, August 31st, 2009

I will be on the Wrap-Up Show this Thursday as a guest of Artie. I probably won’t actually be on the air but it should be cool regardless. Also, on Oct 1st, I will be on Super Fan Roundtable thanks to Mutt.

The Wind of Change

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Peace and Love, peace and love.

As you should have noticed, there was no Howard Stern Show Discussion thread for today. Despite your pleas in the past to keep the daily threads going, I have decided to cut back on the updates. I’ll be going back to just posting interesting (or not) Artie posts, like I did when I first started the blog. There could be a post everyday or every few days, perhaps a week in review every Friday. I realize its not going to be as enjoyable for those of you who post here daily, and for that, I am sorry. I really appreciate all the time you have spent on SBG and I hope you keep checking in.

This is really my last ditch effort to not just stop altogether. With my health getting better (still far from normal and inconsistent), I need to concentrate on the next phase. Work, whatever that might be. This site just takes up too much time out of the day and for those of who you read my recent comments or tweets, the show isn’t all that stimulating for me anymore. I also hope that this change raises the quality of posts too (on my part).

Peace and Love, peace and love.

Happy 4th of July!
