Since they ALL work for Sirius, I gotta' believe management has communicated with everyone on the show that the "Artie situation" should not be readily discussed on the air. It is a delicate situation from both sides, and saying less is probably legally wiser than openly talking about the state of Artie's employment with Sirius.

However, the vibe I'm getting is that if he is officially done, they'll never tell us that directly. The Sirius show will just end, and we'll get the real story coming out in drips and drabs over the next few years.

Jeff, do you honestly think that the only conversation that Howard, Sirius, or anyone else has with Artie is what we hear on the air? Remember it's a radio show and we only hear what they want us to hear, I'm quite sure that there is communication behind the scenes that we'll never know about, and I'm sure Artie isn't "in the dark" as to if he has a job or not at Sirius.

@Will Come on, pressure? To say he's got a home with Howard if he wants it? "We expect him back" is pressure. Telling somebody that they can make a living with them if they choose is hardly pressure. It's quite the opposite. You don't think Artie has once thought about if he's still wanted or not by Howard/Sirius? Let's be real here. To try and tell me that keeping the guy in the dark as to whether he has a job or not after he gets "well" is helping him is a pretty sicko way of helping someone.

Jeff, I'd feel more along the lines of Howard not wanting to put pressure on Artie to come back and not want the fans to keep asking WHEN its going to happen since Howard would be talking about it. Honestly I have a sour feeling he wont come back, there are only a few months left, will he do short appearances? Who knows, I really dont think this is some kind of dick move on Howard's part.

Yup..seems to me that Artie had been using again..and Sirius saw that he was nodding off again..or whatever. I believe they told him to get clean or not come in. So he used all through the holidays and in self hatred he stabbed himself. If he has this 50 or so clean and sober then that puts him to the suicide attempt. So he got clean in the hospital. I just don't see him coming back to the show. It is a trigger..and way to hard for someone with his weakness.

I hope Artie does come back, although I'm sure he'll be worried about some people razzing him over the phone (they will be stomped on sure...) I miss what he added to the show. Whatever happens I hope he sticks around and really has 'bottomed out,' long live Artie!

I'm a little tired of all this "out of respect for the family" BS. When things are going bad, when there are gory details to discuss, then you consider the family. When someone is sober for 54 days, doing better, improving, getting control of his life, there's no issue with "respect for the family". People keep tossing the term around like they really know and understand why Howard is/isn't saying what he does. If Howard had respect for Artie's family, he'd come out and say that Arties chair is there waiting for him when he's ready to come back. Don't you all find it a bit odd that Howard has not once ever said that Artie is welcome back to his job when he's ready. It's pretty damn clear that Howard has gone out of his way to NOT say anything that actually holds Artie's job out to him or could be considered some promise of future employment. Great pal Howard. Even now all he's worried about is wording things in a legal way that protects him from a lawsuit. The ENTIRE way Howard handled the whole Artie situation was horrible, and it hasn't stopped being horrible. Just acting like the guy was never there isn't sitting well with me.

Artie is no Farley or Belushi. He is a funny guy, but he is like the guy next door funny that everyone can relate to . Farley belushi were geniuses and one of a kind. artie is great but he was making the show depressing. He is sick and needs to be in intense therapy not radio.

Artie is to lucky that he has the opportunity to get well and continue with is comedy career, unlike the many that came before him, partied like him, and left the world all to early.

Imagine if Farley or Belushi were still around to laugh about the crazy stupid things they've done. They wish they had Artie's dumb luck, no doubt. All the best Artie!
