Artie pens Foreward for Sid Rosenbeg

May 12th, 2010

If you were looking for a new Artie Lange book on the shelf, you may have to wait a bit longer. In the meantime, you can find him in print in You’re Wrong and You’re Ugly by Sid Rosenberg in book stores now. Artie wrote the foreward to the book. Here is an excerpt.

I always thought Sid was hilarious. I lost contact with him over time, and then I was on The Howard Stern Show and I heard Sid Rosenberg was on Imus. I said, “That’s the Sid that I did that show with.” Of course Stern and the Imus show were at odds with one another – and I’m in Howard’s army forever. But even Howard’s producer Gary Dell’Abate says Sid’s a good guy, because they knew each other. I told him, “I love Sid. He’s funny as hell.” He sort of did what I did but on Imus. He had his issues with drugs just like me. We just had a lot in common. So I contacted Sid again, we started talking, and we became good friends. He wanted to come on with Stern after he got fired from Imus, and Howard was a little reluctant. Gary and I both worked on Howard. I told him, “Howard, this guy is a funny guy, a huge fan of yours, I’ve known him for a long time, and he’s got amazing stories about Imus and drugs.” Howard loves honesty, Gary and I were both instrumental in getting Sid on, and when he came on he was fantastic. Howard loved him. He even used him for a few things on Howard TV.

Another Video Tribute

May 8th, 2010

Here’s another Artie video tribute. Nice job Cody.

Will Artie ever sit in his seat again?

May 3rd, 2010

In case you missed it: A caller on the Wrap Up Show asked Gary whether Artie will ever sit in his seat again. This question was preceded by the same caller asking if the HSS or WUS picks up on callers to bring up topics that wouldn’t otherwise be addressed – a common complaint when it comes to the shows discussions of Artie.

Not really anything new here but I thought I’d keep y’all abreast on any Artie talk.

Gary comments on Artie during Bubba show

April 30th, 2010

Big thanks to SBG’r ‘IloveBlackWang’ for transcribing Gary’s comments about Artie while on the Bubba the Love Sponge show.

It started with Gary mentioning Jackie’s name and Bubba saying ” how bout Jackie, a lot of speculation with Artie’s situation, would Jackie come back, I gotta say I don’t think Jackie ever would come back, I don’t think Howard would have ‘em.”

Gary responded, ” Let’s start with Artie, we’re still trying to figure out what’s up with Artie, we don’t know what the future brings for him for himself, not even for us. But even past that.. you know.. we’re f.. we’re f (sounded like he was going to say we’re fine without Artie, but he stopped himself) You know some people miss Artie, we miss Artie too, but it’s not like..the show.. (he was really struggling with what to say here) The shows about Howard so the show is just different now.

Bubba interupted and said “plus Fred would fucking flip out and become mentally retardedly strong and kill him [ Jackie].”

Gary continued with “No, they get along great, Howard has adapted without Artie, and so far it’s fine, meaning we don’t feel this hole that needs to be filled, people always say, you gotta fill it cuz Jackie was there, cuz Artie was there, sometimes, you know maybe when the time comes and we feel that need to fill that hole maybe we will, but it’s just , we don’t feel it right now.

Bubba asked, “ Have you had any conversation with Artie at all?

Gary: “I did, , I spoke to Artie,um, just about, probably, two weeks ago, two weeks ago today I spoke to him.

Bubba: ” How did it go?

Gary: ” It went really well, (some stuttering) ..without giving too much away (stuttering) I thought he sounded a lot better than the last time I spoke to him.. NOT GOOD, just better (he emphasized that part) and he’s more aware of… meaning you know, he’s drug free and mentally he seems to be in a better place, but he’s still very depressed, so I think he’s at the begining of now..(stutter stutter) you know there was a lot of stuff that had to happen, you know there was a lot of drug use that had to stop and a lot of that, so I think he’s at the begining of now being able to start to work on the next level.

Bubba : “… in a nut shell he said so once the drug problem is fixed we can move on from there.”

Gary : “yeah, yeah, it was really good to talk to him, and like I said I thought he sounded a lot better, um , um ,but even he admits he’s got some ways to go.

Bubba then asked another question about Gary’s book and the Artie talk stopped.

– PS, Also thanks to Darek in OrLangedo for mentioning it on here first!

Hogan Loves Artie

April 29th, 2010

Hulk Hogan, “Babe Ruth of Wrestling”, was in studio today and before sitting down expressed his love of Artie.

Hogan: I miss artie, man.

Howard: Well who doesn’t.

Robin: Doesn’t everyone?

Howard: Artie’s livin’ hardcore.

Hogan: You know what, Artie’s gonna make a huge comeback and he’s going to take this whole place over again.

Howard: You think, you’re predicting big things for Artie?

Hogan: Yea, I love Artie.

Howard:Yea, he’s a good man.

Bob Levy: They Just Killed Him

April 23rd, 2010

The Rev. Bob Levy responded to fans during his 4/20 Levyland show in which he ranted about the Howard Stern show, the loss of Miserable Men and blamed the HSS for Artie’s continual problems.

The following quotes start around the 4:22 mark in the video (below).

“Did Howard fire Artie? No. They just killed him. There’s a difference there. You know what I mean? He should have been in rehab a year ago, but I’m not even gonna talk about that, but it’s sad. It’s really sad. He shoulda been off the show a year ago, gettin’ help. If it’s funny to watch someone fall apart and become a fucking junkie? Then, to me? I’d rather watch TV. I’d rather watch ‘The View’ than listen to bullshit.”

“When you have a fucking junkie hired in a place, you take care of them dude. You don’t let them be there. You don’t let people attack people. Everybody has an opinion but my opinion can get me fired because i have a show (miserable men). If you want to take my show away from me then take it but i can tell the truth if i want and thats how i felt from the beginning.”

“I was with Artie all the time trying to take him off. I knew people that were giving him fucking 80 pills a week and I had to put an end to that. And that led to other stuff because these fucking people are scumbags and they wanted to be on Artie’s show. Artie told me i was the only person that never asked him for money. You know how many people owe Artie anywhere between 5 and 15 grand? So don’t tell me how real life is alright and what you should do and what you should say and how you should take care of yourself. I don’t need anybody to make a career.” – Bob Levy

{In reference to returning to the HSS) “I need a bit to go on. I couldn’t talk and be funny. That would be insane. Of course gary hates me. He’ll never admit it. Ya know what i mean. Gary hates me cuz I tell the truth. You know what I mean. Let them all take me on. i’ll go in there by myself. Let them all have me in there and let them tell me what they feel and I will hit them with every lie they’ve come up with over the years. why i lost my plugs, why this, why that. They will not have me on again because of that fact and i dont care because you know what? Opie and Anthony love me, Jason Ellis loves me, other shows love me. There is no next roast … Yea it’s really helped my career by being called unfunny.” – Bob Levy

By the way, I only watch a couple minutes of the video so I don’t know what else Bob said.

Fuck The Boston Phoenix

April 2nd, 2010

Now we all know Artie isn’t a Red Sox fan but does he deserves a slam from The Boston Phoenix? This rag put Artie on the list of The 100 Unsexiest Men of The Year 2010? This publication should be ashamed to “print” such crap. This is the same media outlet that touts excellence in journalism awards? I’m disgusted to even repeat this shit but it shouldn’t be hidden.

Stabbie the Poke Man

REASON(S) HE’S ON THE LIST Poor Artie. When Howard Stern fans told him to trim the fat, they didn’t mean to carve it out of his abdomen with a knife. It’s not as bad as all that, man: fat comedians with expendable income are the reason strip clubs were invented.

LOOKS LIKE John Belushi in the middle of a horrible sushi accident
